But Ryo Ishikawa, the youngest player in event history, made the cut.By T.J. Auclair, PGA.com Interactive ProducerCHASKA, Minn. -- Winds were howling in the second round of the 91st PGA Championship at Hazeltine on Friday and blowing big names off the leaderboard, providing a nice headwind for some early flights home. The 36-hole cut fell at 4-over-par 148 with 80 players advancing to the weekend, trying to hunt down the leader, Tiger Woods, who holds a four-shot advantage over five players in his quest for a fifth PGA Championship title, his 15th major overall and his third win in as many weeks.Among the notables who won’t be around for the weekend are Bubba Watson, Sergio Garcia, Davis Love III, Stuart Appleby and Justin Rose, who all were one shot shy of a weekend tee time at 5 over.So just how tough was the course playing on Friday?“Come on, it was a lot tougher today,” said Woods after negotiating an impressive 2-under 70. “The wind was not only blowing, it was changing directions. It was gusty. It was just hard to decide what it was doing and then once you hit the shot, it could change. It was affecting putts a lot. The greens were bumpy. It was just a tough day all around.”Charles Howell III, Steve Elkington and Nick Watney all finished at 6 over. Colin Montgomerie and Darren Clarke were among a large group at 9 over and Australian Adam Scott was the most shocking of the bunch with his two-day total of 17-over par with rounds of 82-79. Scott’s mark was 149th out of the 154 players who completed 36 holes. It’s been a terribly frustrating season for Scott, but he may have hit a new low at Hazeltine after rounds of 82-79 for a 17-over 161 total. In all, Scott made 14 bogeys, one double bogey, one triple bogey and just two birdies in the first two rounds. This week’s performance led to Scott’s ninth missed cut in 16 starts this season.Boo Weekley, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Luke Donald, Justin Leonard, Retief Goosen and Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa -- the youngest player in PGA Championship history at age 17 -- were all among the players who made the cut on the number.Greg Bisconti, an assistant professional from The St. Andrew’s Golf Club in Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., and Grant Sturgeon, an assistant professional from Oakmont, Pa., were the only two PGA Professionals out of the 20 to qualify to make the cut.“I'm not going to get ahead of myself,” said Bisconti, who’s tied for 48th and made the cut for the first time in three tries at the PGA Championship. “I played well. And that's all I can hope for. Whatever happens is going to happen.”Sturgeon is actually tied for 13th in his PGA Championship debut at even par.“You know, expectations, coming up here, you never know because I never played a golf course setup that's this tough, that's this challenging and never played in front of this many people,” Sturgeon said after his 1-under 71 on Friday. “Never played against the best in the world. But that being said, I felt if I played up to my potential and my ability that making the cut was a reasonable goal. So I tried to, as much as I thought that, stay away from thinking that way as much as possible, because if that is all that I was worried about, I had no chance of doing it.”
