芝生化奮闘記

先週書き込みをしたアルコール依存症で苦しんでいる友人ですが、家族、友人、専門家、経験者等の協力が実り、週末には専門家に付き添われ、回復に向かい始めた。

本人がさることながら、助けようとしている全員が日夜を通じて緊張の連続で金曜日の夕方に「入院しこれから夕食だ｣との連絡が入るまで本当に気が抜けない4－5日でした。

これだけの人数の総力戦でやっと達成したことでした。

よくよく考えたら、僕に時は妻が一人で全て背負って、僕を立ち直らせたことに気付いた。

改めて彼女の偉大さを感じさせられました。

心の奥底から感謝し、愛している妻を一生大事にし、そのときのつらい経験を十二分に償いをし、それ倍以上に幸せにしなきゃと思う今日この頃です。

The friend I talked about last week has started on his road to recovery after climbing out of the depths of alcoholism through the concerted efforts of family, friends, specialists, and fellow sufferers.

Leaving him aside for a moment, those of use trying to help him spend an incredibly tense 4-5 days, with little sense of day or night and with not a single second free of tension until we heard from the specialist on Friday night that he had checked in and was about to have his dinner.

This was achieved through the concerted efforts of many people.

On reflection, I realised that when I was in a similar state, my wife took on the total burden on her own and got me started on my road to recovery.

This recent experience really drove home to me just what an amazing woman she is.

These days, I seem to spend all my time thinking about how I must show her the depth of my gratitude and love for her and how I must make sure that I make amends for the bitter experiences I subjected her to and make her happy above and beyond those memories.
