ところで、これまでに韓国で公開された議事録は手元にあるのですか?soudenjapanNot convincingjsx123,>They are dealing with the issue,How exactly are "they" dealing with the issue? Thecommittee said what it wanted to say, but what has theSouth Korean government officially said about it? Hasit mentioned anything about the committee's suggestion? If not, why not? And how about yourself? What do YOUbelieve the government must do to correct the injusticenow? How do you ciriticize the government for its lyingto the South Koreans for 40 years?>which is one regarding compensation to war damage>to homes, assets and property of her citizens.South Korean representatives specified 8 items to becompensated (You need to check with Korean version ofnegotiation minites) by the Japan government duringnegotiation. The 5th item of the 8 items includes theso-called "froced labor" related compentsations. Do youagree with me that at least the force labor issue hasbeen settled "completely and finally"?>Germany and USA need no excuses,Germans are Germans, Americans are Americans, and, ofcourse, the Japanse are Japanese. They are all operatingunder different circumstances. Germans, for instance, haven't even reached the official peace treaty with anycountries that resolves war reparation issues "completelyand finally." They are dealing with the issues in an onlyway available for them. That's all. The U.S. doesn't havean official agreement with Peru or any other countieswith regard to the cases of abuduction occured duringthe World War II. Besides, only half of foreign applicantsfor compensation were actually covered.Japan, on the other hand, resolved all war, colonization, and annexation related issues by signing treaties andagreements with more than 48 nations, which includes thefollowing three treaties.(1) San Francisco Peace Treaty(2) Japan-China Peace Treaty(3) Treaty on Basic Relations between Japan and theRepublic of Korea (including "Agreement Between Japan andthe Republic of Korea Concerning the Settlement ofProblems in Regard to Property and Claims and EconomicCooperation")Clearly, the three countries are reacting to differentcircumstances unique to each of them.>Japan has earned little or no respect from the> victim countries they ravaged. For the last 60 years the Japanese were able to survivewith "little or no respect from the victim," which couldthen mean that they don't need it for a long time tocome. So don't worry about it any more. They can live withthe status quo. Try to convince Japanese people in someother creative way. As I said in the previous post, theywill not agree to pay any money to the South Koreansunless you come up with a more creative argument thatmotivates them to do what you have been isisting forthem to do.jsx123Ah so...evasive Japanese neh...Dear soudenjapan,Don't try to pretend dumb. The treaties you cited was for the war, not the atrocities (crimes against humanity). They are TWO separate and distinct issues, and Japan politicians often cite these treaties as closure to the war and atrocities, which they don't.Even today, Japan government maintained there was NO war and there was NO atrocities. The whole world knew Japan started a war, and Japan committed massive atrocities towards neighboring countries. You can't fool the world. As for the war, the treaties can qualify as a closure, although not a satisfactory one, I can view it as closed - as far as the war is concerned. As for the atrocities, crimes against humanity, Japan had not dealt with it, nor admitted to their crimes, which devastated hundreds of thousands of individual (often innocent) lives and families. Now, soudenjapan, that is THE ISSUE now debated in this forum, and many more forums elsewhere. The old generation of Japan inflicted untold misery and suffering on the numerous victims with barbaric atrocities; the new generation adds insult to the aggrieved victims by claiming the atrocities did not take place. Whether modern Japan did it for honor or nationalism, it does not matter, as it will put Japan in disrepute and shame, plus condemnation from the outside world. Like it or not, that is the way it is.I am not a victim of the past atrocities, I wasn't even born then, but the cruelty and massive scale of the Japanese atrocities really pissed me off. The civilized world should condemn Japan for these heinous atrocities and their failure to redress their crimes.Btw, you hero, Gen Tojo and his gang, now lying at Yasukuni shinto shrine, will be mobbed and lynched by the many Japanese soldiers souls' who died young and their families ended in hardship - it was Tojo who sent them to war, and to their grave, many died on foreign lands. You guys, including Koizumi woershipped him? You guys are mad!
