Granted, this movie was amazing visually. Lots of eye candy, different sceneries, colors, lights, action. But that's about it. Storywise it was a sequence of scenes many of which the protagonists' actions didn't make a lot of sense or were simply unrealistic. Without spoiling anything, let's just say the main character survived quite a lot and sometimes walked around the battlefield as if he was strolling through a shopping mall. But especially the (few) interactions with the Germans were absolutely ridiculous.

I know there is an unwritten law in the film industry that Germans have to be portrayed as the bad guys at any opportunity, but could they at least make it somewhat believable? There is one particular key scene in this movie where even an absolute German-hater had to think "oh come on, this makes no sense." Oh, and also, I wasn't aware that there were so many African and Indian soldiers fighting for Britain in WW1. Political correctness rearing its head to rewrite history again? Well, at least they did it to both sides in this one.

This movie is a true marvel when it comes to cinematography. You really get invested into the story and follow the journey with anticipation and excitement. Amazing movie with an amazing sound design and (as mentioned) wonderful cinematography.
