This episode was the perfect start to Aot season 3 and left an excellent cliffhanger, and unlike last season Levi is going to be one of the most prominent characters throughout the 24 episode arc.

Smoke Signals is a Canadian-American independent film released in 1998, directed and co-produced by Chris Eyre and with a screenplay by Sherman Alexie, based on the short story "This is What it Means to Say Phoenix, Arizona" from his book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven (1993). The film won several awards and accolades, and was well received at numerous film festivals.
In 2018, the film was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant. " [2]
Plot [ edit]
Victor Joseph ( Adam Beach) and Thomas Builds-the-Fire ( Evan Adams) live on the Coeur D'Alene Indian Reservation in Plummer, Idaho. Thomas is an eccentric storyteller and Victor is an angry young man who enjoys playing basketball.
Victor and Thomas are brought together through Victor's father, Arnold ( Gary Farmer). Arnold rescued Thomas as an infant from a house fire that killed his parents. Because of this, Thomas considers him a hero. On the other hand, Victor, who endures Arnold's alcoholism, domestic violence, and eventual child abandonment, regards his father with both deep love and bitter resentment. Thomas and Victor grow up together as neighbors and acquaintances, fighting with each other and simultaneously forming a close, albeit uneasy, friendship.
When Arnold dies in Phoenix, Arizona, where he has stayed after leaving Victor and his mother Arlene ( Tantoo Cardinal), Victor and Thomas go on an adventure to retrieve his ashes. The trip is the means for Victor and Thomas to explore their identities. Neither of them loses sight of his identity as an " Indian ", but their perspectives differ. Victor is more stoic and Thomas is more traditional (and romantic to the point of watching the feature film Dances with Wolves countless times). Their dichotomy is portrayed all through the film; it results in Victor being irritated with Thomas, and Thomas being fascinated with Victor.
Once they reach Phoenix, Victor has to confront his conflicted feelings about his father, as well as his own identity. He has to grapple with a new account of Thomas's parents' death, as told by his father's friend, Suzy Song ( Irene Bedard). She says that a drunken Arnold set off fireworks, accidentally starting the fire that cost Thomas his parents. The road trip by the young men leads to Thomas reconciling with the memory of his adoptive father Arnold, as he understands more of his path to alcoholism and related abuse and abandonment. Victor also gains a better understanding of Thomas and his reverence for Arnold.
Production [ edit]
The film is unique as an all-Native American production: producers, director, screenwriter ( Sherman Alexie), actors and technicians.
Critical reception [ edit]
Reviews [ edit]
The film was well received by mainstream critics. Rotten Tomatoes gives Smoke Signals an 83% approval rating, based on 30 reviews with an average rating of 7. 31/10. [3] On Metacritic, the film has a weighted average score of 76 out of 100, based on 17 critics, indicating "generally favorable reviews". [4]
Peter Stack of the San Francisco Chronicle gave the film a rave review, calling it, "unpretentious, funny and soulful... Well-acted, well-written, with spare, beautiful imagery. " [5] Kevin Thomas of the Los Angeles Times described Smoke Signals as "a warm film of friendship and reconciliation, and whenever it refers to historic injustices or contemporary issues in Native American culture, it does so with wry, glancing humor. Smoke Signals is indeed poignant, but above all it's pretty funny. " [6] Marc Savlov of The Austin Chronicle called the film "poignant and slyly humorous" and "alight with oddball nuances and wry observations, " saying further, "the cast is uniformly excellent in their roles, and Eyre's persistent use of long, trailing shots reinforces the story's elegiac tone. Simple and elegant, Smoke Signals is a delicious, heady debut that lingers long after the tale is told. " [7]
Susan Tavernetti of the Palo Alto Weekly, gave the film a mixed review, saying that "although sometimes the attempt to break down stereotypes seems stilted and forced, more often the result is humorous. " She also said, "Chris Eyre's direction establishes an uneven tone, allowing some actors to deliver performances bordering on broad caricature while others play their roles straight. " She praised the opening and closing sequences which "beautifully combine poetic voice-overs with visual lyricism. " [8] Paul Bond of the World Socialist Web Site criticized Sherman Alexie 's screenplay; he felt it was not as strong as the short story collection on which it was based. Bond also believed the producers of the film made compromises based upon commercial pressures. [9]

Capt. Harper's cavalry patrol returns to the fort to find it besieged by Ute Indians. The apparent cause is the recapture of Army traitor Brett Halliday, who deserted to the Utes in a previous war; but Brett has a different story. With capture imminent, the only chance for the surviving men (and one woman) is to boat down a wild, uncharted river, where Harper and Halliday must pull together, like it or not.

Movie stream smoke signal meaning.
Very good start of the season... The only thing that I did not like is that there was no previous mention of Kenny the ripper beforehand... such a major character should have been at least mentioned once to add to the "legitimacy" of the character...

All in all, the episode was very good with two very tense and surprising moments.

The smoke signal is one of the oldest forms of long-distance communication. It is a form of visual communication used over a long distance. In general smoke signals are used to transmit news, signal danger, or gather people to a common area.
History and usage [ edit]
In ancient China, soldiers stationed along the Great Wall would alert each other of impending enemy attack by signaling from tower to tower. In this way, they were able to transmit a message as far away as 750 kilometres (470 mi) [ citation needed] in just a few hours.
Misuse of the smoke signal is known to have contributed to the fall of the Western Zhou Dynasty in the 8th century BCE. King You of Zhou had a habit of fooling his warlords with false warning beacons in order to amuse Bao Si, his concubine. [1]
Polybius, a Greek historian, devised a more complex system of alphabetical smoke signals around 150 BCE, which converted Greek alphabetic characters into numeric characters. It enabled messages to be easily signaled by holding sets of torches in pairs. This idea, known as the " Polybius square ", also lends itself to cryptography and steganography. This cryptographic concept has been used with Japanese Hiragana and the Germans in the later years of the First World War.
North American indigenous peoples also communicated via smoke signal. Each tribe had its own signaling system and understanding. A signaler started a fire on an elevation typically using damp grass, which would cause a column of smoke to rise. The grass would be taken off as it dried and another bundle would be placed on the fire. Reputedly the location of the smoke along the incline conveyed a meaning. If it came from halfway up the hill, this would signify all was well, but from the top of the hill it would signify danger. [ citation needed]
Smoke signals remain in use today. The College of Cardinals uses smoke signals to indicate the selection of a new Pope during a papal conclave. Eligible cardinals conduct a secret ballot until someone receives a vote of two-thirds plus one. The ballots are burned after each vote. Black smoke indicates a failed ballot, while white smoke means a new Pope has been elected.
Colored smoke grenades are commonly used by military forces to mark positions, especially during calls for artillery or air support.
Smoke signals may also refer to smoke-producing devices used to send distress signals. [2] [3]
Examples [ edit]
Native Americans [ edit]
Lewis and Clark's journals cite several occasions when they adopted the Native American method of setting the plains on fire to communicate the presence of their party or their desire to meet with local tribes. [4] [5]
Yámana [ edit]
Yámanas of South America used fire to send messages by smoke signals, for instance if a whale drifted ashore. [6] The large amount of meat required notification of many people, so that it would not decay. [7] They might also have used smoke signals on other occasions, thus it is possible that Magellan saw such fires (which inspired him to name the landscape Tierra del Fuego) but he may have seen the smoke or lights of natural phenomena. [8] [9]
Noon Gun [ edit]
The Cape Town Noon Gun, specifically the smoke its firing generates, was used to set marine chronometers in Table Bay.
Aboriginal Australians [ edit]
Aboriginal Australians throughout Australia would send up smoke signals for various purposes. [10] [11] [12] [13] Sometimes to notify others of their presence, particularly when entering lands which were not their own. [10] Sometimes used to describe visiting whites, smoke signals were the fastest way to send messages. [13] Smoke signals were sometimes to notify of incursions by hostile tribes, or to arrange meetings between hunting parties of the same tribe. This signal could be from a fixed lookout on a ridge or from a mobile band of tribesman. [12] "Putting up a smoke" would often result in nearby individuals or groups replying with their own signals. [11] [12] To carry information, the colour of the smoke was varied, sometimes black, white or blue depending on whether the material being burnt was wet grass, dry grass, reeds or other, and the shape of the smoke could be a column, ball or smoke ring. This message could include the names of individual tribesmen. [12] Like other means of communication, signals could be misinterpreted. In one recorded instance, a smoke signal reply translated as "we are coming" was misinterpreted as joining a war party for protection of the tribe when it was actually hunting parties coming together after a successful hunt. [12]

First thing: New opening is ok, but it doesn't really fit with previous 3 openings (and it's not as good, but like I said "ok. br>
Most of the things in this episode felt kinda doesn't mean it's bad, but I would prefer slower pace (more time for characters and that stuff.

Example (2 that come to my mind) Story of Historia wasn't really just went on the mission. And Eren/titan scene was also very Eren can regenerate, but damn, Eren looked like freaking skeleton, how is that not a big deal (I guess not. And after that they just time-skip, and Eren was like he was missing half of his face moments ago. I know he can regenerate, but that was just too fast, there was almost no concern. br>
To sum it up; interesting episode, but too rushed.

Lol. Are you a native.
