Although I tried to think about our situation positively, I fell into a deep depression from time to time. I couldn’t help thinking that I only pushed the reality away and there must have been better ways for my youngest daughter. It made me force her to do something new. Especially, every March, when new academic year was coming up, I was impatient. She refused all my suggestions and our relationship was getting worse. Meanwhile, I realized my ruffle always made her anxious. I learned I should be optimistic!

Fortunately for me, I knew one of my American e-mail friends chose homeschooling for his daughter from the beginning. He encouraged me, “You will realize you chose the best way for her soon. I bet many people around you will envy your daughter because she can learn her interests to the bitter end,” and introduced me to a book titled “The Homeschooling Handbook.”

In the U.S, there are various homeschooling resources and organizations. The book refers to everything I worried. I had known about homeschooling a little bit, but had never known about unschooling. Unschooling hasn’t any curriculums. It’s freeform learning. My youngest daughter became an unschooler without knowing it. He and the book relieved me. There are many children like my youngest daughter and they live their lives happily!

I’ve been learning English just for fun. I hadn’t expected it would guide me such a significant encounter.
