　同性愛者の壮大な人生を描いた演劇『エンジェルス・イン・アメリカ』に出演したリーは、自身のツイッターで、「クィアコミュニティの一員としてオープンに生きることの大切さを理解し、自分らしくあることを幸せに思っている。これが僕の生きてきた人生です」と、39歳でクィア（※）であることをカミングアウトした。
