　連日10日間も雨が降りつづくといいかげんうんざりする。三日間このブログ日記を書かなかったが、絵の制作を休んで読書していた。今日は午前中に主治医のクリニックへ行き、日野市が後期高齢者のために提供している特定健康検診を受けた。大腸ガン検査、心肺レントゲン検査、前立腺ガン検査、血液検査である。結果告知は、私に時間の都合がつく8月半ば過ぎに予約した。

　すべての検査が終了したところで、院長夫人にしばらくぶりでお会いした。2時間半ほどいろいろお話した。
　院長夫妻が重視されている心療内科について、現在、90歳100歳の人たちのためにその精神活動を、医事行為とは別に、その周縁支援として夫人がヴォランティアでやってゆけないかと考えているという。つまり非常な高齢者が集まってただお茶を飲みながら過ごすのではなく、また絵を描かせてみたり昔の歌を歌わせたりするのではなく、もっと自らの人生を終末に向かって積極的に肯定する場面を演出できないだろうか、という現実的なプランを模索していられるようだった。

　私は、いつも自分の経験から道を拓くことしか話しはしないのだが、院長夫人にこういうことを話した。
　・・・私の作品は目の前に物を置いて写生するのではないし、風景画を描くのでもない。しかし空想を描いているのではなく、私の幼い時からの思い出を後年になって自らのものとした思想によって翻訳し、常に明確な自他の意識によって他者に発信している。私の生活は、異常だと思われるかもしれないがほぼ毎日自分を確かめることだ。私には趣味もなければ、観光や行楽への関心もほとんどない。生きている楽しさ以外に、私にはあまり楽しいと思うことがらがない。自分の人生を「苦労して」そのように作り上げて来たのだけれども、じつはそれが私の精神を活き活きさせることであり、その自己肯定が私の表現なのだ。私は風景画は描かないが、私の幼い頃からの思い出はみな自然と結びついていて、それは精神的なことだけではなく肉体的にも結びついているような感覚だ。エロティックな感覚だ。私の作品は世界観の表明であったり社会問題に対する静かな反抗であるのだが、私自身の内的なところではエロティックなのだ。それがあからさまでないのは、私は他者（鑑賞者）と作品を通してゲームをしたいからだ。
　
　私は、75歳の現在、自分が衰えているとは思わない。「年寄の冷や水」という言い方があり、無論、自分の顔を鏡で見ればどこから見たって老人である。私がアディダスのキャップを冠っているのを見たひとが、「ヤマダさん、お若いですね」とおっしゃる。それは私が老人であるからだ。本当に年齢が若い人には、「若いですね」とは決して言わないものだ。だから、私が「衰えているとは思わない」と言うのは、自分が老人であることをわきまえたうえで言っている。実際は記憶力だって衰えている。新しい外国語を勉強しようと思い、ノートまで買ったが、ちっとも記憶できない。・・・そういう衰えを承知のうえで、なお、私はまだまだ向上心があるぞ、まだまだ世界が良くなるぞと思っているぞ、自己肯定をするけれども現状肯定はしないぞ、と思えるからである。

　そんなことを院長夫人と話し、お互いの意見を交換したのである。「私ができそうなことはやりますから、いつでも声をかけてください」と、私は言った。


　さて、帰宅すると画廊のエイジェントのMさんから電話があった。某社が、昔の表紙画を復刊させてもらえないかと言ってきているが、どうしますか？　と。
　28年前の仕事である。復刊というのは、著作権者の昔の仕事にきまっている。昔の仕事を蒸し返すことには躊躇いがあるが、承知したと返事してもらう。　
　ほぼ即座にその某社の社長から電話が入り、私は表紙絵の再使用を許可した。

   I feel tired when it keeps raining for 10 consecutive
days. I didn't write this blog diary for three days, but
I took a break from drawing pictures and read.
   In the morning, I went to the doctor's clinic and had
a specific health checkup provided by Hino City for the
elderly. Colorectal cancer examination, cardiopulmo-
nary radiography, prostate cancer examination, blood
examination. I booked the result announcement after
mid-August, when it was time for me.

   When all the inspections were completed, I met Mrs.
Director. We talked about two or a half hours.
   Regarding psychosomatic medicine, where the direc-
tor and his wife are emphasized, they think that for
the 90-year-old and 100-year-old people, the direc-
tor and his wife can carry out old people's mental
activities as voluntary support in addition to medical
oractice. Say. In other words, rather than having very
old people gathering and spending time just drinking
tea, rather than letting them draw pictures or singing
old songs, they should proactively end  their lives
more towards the end. Mrs. Director seemed to be
able to find a realistic plan to create a positive scene.

   I always talk only about opening up the way from
my experience, but I told Mrs.
   ... My work is not drawn with a thing in front of me,
nor is it a landscape painting. However, instead of 
drawing fantasies, I translate the memories from my
childhood into the thoughts of my own in later years,
and always send them to others through a clear con-
sciousness of myself and others. My life may seem
unusual, but it's about verifying myself almost every
day. I have no hobbles and little interest in tourism
and leisure. Other than the enjoyment of living. I
don't think I have much fun. I've been working hard
to make my life that way, but it's actually a vital part
of my spirit, and that self-affirmation is my expres-
sion. I don't paint landscapes, but all my early child-
hood memories are tied to nature, a feeling that is
tied not only mentally but physically. It's an erotic
feeling. My work is a manifestation of the worldview
or a quiet rebellion against social issues, but inter-
nally I'm erotic. It7S not over because I want to play
games with others (audiences) through my works.

   At the age of 75, I don't think I'm in decline. 
There is an expression of "old people's cold water",
and of courase, If I look at my face in the mirror, I
can see that it is an old man. One who saw me
wearing an Adidas cap said, "Yamada-san, you're
young." Because I am an old man. People who are
really young should never say, "You're young." So
I say "I don't think I'm in decline" after knowing
that I'm an old man. In fact, my memory is weakn-
ing. I bought a notebook to study a new foreign
language, but I can't remember it at all. ...Being
aware of such a decline, I still think that I am still
motivated, I think the world will be better, I am
affirming myself but not the current situation.

   I talked about such a thing with the wife and
exchanged opinions with each other. "I'll do what
I can do, so feel free to talk to me." I said.


   By the way, when I got home, there was a call
from Mz. M, the gallery agent. A company is ask-
ing me if they can republish your old cover arts.
What should I respond?, said Mz. M.
   ....It was my work 28 years ago. Of course, the
republishing is tied to the old work of the copyr-
ight holder. I was reluctamt to get my old work
steamed back, but I was told mz. M that I knew it.
   Approximately instantly a call came in from the
president of the certain company, and I allowed 
the reuse of the cover pictures.
