It can't be said that the cold has passed, but "where
spring is born somewhere"*.
【*Note】" Where Spring is" written by Soji Momota
and composed by ShinKusakawa. This is the song
of the gradiation ceremony (1953, Showa 28) when
I was in the first grade of Kawakami Daini Elemen-
tary School in Nagano Prefecture. The composer
Shin Kusakawa was from Nagano Prefecture. That
may be the reason why the graduation song was
his song, but the Daini Elementaly School was brave
enough to work on new postwar school education.
I am fortunate to have met Kaeko Higuchi, the best
teaxher in my life, when I entered this elementary
school.
【Haiku】
Yosamu ni mo tsubaki no tsubomi fukuramite
The camellia buds swelled
Even in the a little cold
in the early spring
Ochikochi no niwa no kaboku ni mebuki kana
Oh! it's a bud
on the flowers and trees
in the garden here and there
Lively song
of birds
Oh spring, spring!
