花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

日比谷公園を後にして、東京メトロ日比谷線に乗り六本木へ。AXISギャラリーで8日から開催されている、「水戸岡鋭治の大鉄道時代展」を見に行った。

ギャラリー内は写真撮影禁止だったため、写真を載せられないのが残念だが、ギャラリーは水戸岡デザインの特徴とも言うべき、木の温もりが漂う落ち着いた雰囲気。水戸岡さんがデザインを手がけたJR九州の車両、787系電車「つばめ」、883系電車「ソニック」、800系新幹線電車「つばめ」などの模型や、車両のデザイン画の数々が展示され、和歌山電鐵のねこ駅長のたまや、JR九州豊肥本線のキハ183系気動車1000番台「あそぼーい!」の犬のクロのイラストも出迎えてくれた。

800系の座席にも座った。紅葉が描かれたデザインの座席で、肘掛と背もたれ裏面は木製。座り心地もよかった。実際に800系に乗ったことがないだけに、実車の座席にも座りたくなった。

僕がこの展覧会で個人的に気に入ったのは、水戸岡さんの最新作、「クルーズトレイン」のデザイン画。寝台車に、展望車、食堂車にラウンジ車と、今や消え行く存在となっている寝台列車を復活させ、九州一周の旅に出かけようというコンセプトの新型客車。2013（平成25）年ごろデビューするのではという話があるが、僕も楽しみである。

ギャラリー自体が小さかったため、少し物足りないような気もしたが、小さな空間に凝縮された水戸岡ワールドを体験できた。水戸岡さんデザインの電車に乗りに九州に行きたいと言いたいところだが、まずは近場の富士急行1000形電車「富士登山電車」から始めたいと思う。


After Hibiya Park left, I went to AXIS Gallery in Roppongi to see "Eiji Mitooka's train design exhibition".

Because photographing in the gallery was forbidden, I can't show you the photos. However, the gallery overflowed with the warmth of wood, which was the most characteristic point of Mitooka design. In the gallery the models of the train he designed, such as 787 Series "Tsubame" ("Hyuga" and "Kirishima" etc. in the present), 883 Series "Sonic", and 800 Series Shinkansen "Tsubame", and the pictures of the dog named "Kuro", the mascot of "ASO BOY!" express on Hohi Main Line, and the cat named "Tama", the mascot of Wakayama Electric Railway and the station master of Kishi Station on that railway, were displayed.

I sat down on the seat of 800 Series Shinkansen. Its armrest and back were made from wood. It was comfortable and the autumn leaves were painted on the backrest. For I haven't ridden this Shinkansen train, I want to sit on the real one.

My most favourite exhibit was the image of "Cruse Train", overnight sleeper train travelling around Kyushu with saloon, dining carriage, and an observation carriage with large-size and roundish window, now under planning. It is said that this train would be manufactured and debut in 2013. I'm also really looking forward to travelling with it.

Due to the small size of the gallery, I wasn't completely satisfied with the exhibition a little, but I felt it was a condensed Mitooka world. I'd like to say I want to travel to Kyushu with Mitooka design trains, but try first "Fuji Tozan Densha" on Fujikyu Line because of not far place from Tokyo.
