花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

2月1日、横浜高速鉄道みなとみらい線が開業10周年を迎えた。



横浜高速鉄道みなとみらい線は横浜～元町・中華街間4.1kmの鉄道路線で、2004（平成16）年2月1日に開業した。みなとみらい地区と横浜駅および関内地区とを結ぶ交通網整備を目的に計画された。計画当初はJR横浜線との直通運転を予定していたが、当時の国鉄の財政事情から断念し、替わって今日の姿となる東急東横線との直通運転に計画変更された。

計画当初から横浜市などの都市計画と緻密な連携をしていることもみなとみらい線の特徴である。みなとみらい駅は東急電鉄が主体となって開発された高層ビル「クイーンズスクエア横浜」の地下4階に建設され、同ビルとは吹き抜けで一体感を出している。また日本大通り駅と元町・中華街駅には横浜市営駐車場が併設され、元町・中華街駅のものは本線シールドトンネルと開削工法による駅部分との接続部の直上に位置しており、横浜市と横浜高速鉄道が接続部の工事費を共同負担している。みなとみらい～日本大通り間1.1kmのトンネルには、東京電力の電気ケーブルが建築限界に支障のないスペースに敷設されている。


On February 1st, Yokohama Minatomirai Railway Line marks its 10th anniversary.

Yokohama Minatomirai Railway Line, commonly called Minatomirai Line, is 4.1km underground railway running between Yokohama Station and Motomachi-chukagai Station in bayside area of Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefectue as the new transportation crossing Minatomirai area. It initially planned to connect to JR Yokohama Line, but it went bad because of the financial condition of National Railway on that time. Instead of it, the new plan connecting to Tokyu Toyoko Line which lead the development of the line in the present was suggested.

One of the notable features of Minatomirai Line is the close cooperation with urban developers and other infrastructure companies such as Yokohama City and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). For example, Minatomirai Station stands in the 4th basement of a skyscraper Queens Square Yokohama and has open ceiling space over the upper floor of building to provide a feeling of togetherness. At Nihon-odori and Motomachi-chukagai Stations, underground municipal parkings were constructed, especially Motomachi-chukagai Station's one stands above the connecting section between the main line constructed by shield tunneling method and the station structure by open cut method, whose construction cost was paid Yokohama City and Yokohama Minatomirai Railway together. In addition, in the tunnel between Minatomirai Station and Nihon-odori Station, TEPCO's electric cable is laid in the space not working against the limit of structure.


僕は10年前の開業初日にみなとみらい線に乗ってきた。この日はちょうど中華街の春節イベントの開催中だったため、非常に激しい混雑になるほど賑わっていた。


I got on Minatomirai Line on its first day. It was very, very crowded because of Chinese New Year Festival in Yokohama China Town.

昨年2013（平成25）年3月16日には、東急東横線と東京メトロ副都心線とが渋谷駅で繋がり、これまで池袋駅と渋谷駅で2度の乗り換えが必要で、沿線住民の多くが横浜は遠いと感じていた西武池袋線と東武東上線からも乗り換えなしで元町・中華街駅まで直通できるようになったため、東横線との直通運転を選択したことは、今となっては成功と言えるだろう。


On March 16th, 2013, Minatomirai Line train started to go through Tobu Tojo Line and Seibu Ikebukuro Line via Tokyu Toyoko Line and Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line, which makes some passengers of Seibu Ikebukuro Line and Tobu Tojo Line who felt that Yokohama was too far because they needed to change trains twice, at Ikebukuro and Shibuya, on the way there easier. It seems to be a success to choose the connection to Toyoko Line.
