A HAPPY NEW YEAR
あけましておめでとうございます。
生れて１００日目を「お食い初め」をするのだそうです。孫
娘「ゆ」は厳密には12月30日が生後100日目ですが、それを
今日まで延期していました。午後2時頃、「お食い初め」セ
ットにお節を盛りつけして、一つ一つ箸で少しだけ口に運ん
でやると、ちゃんと口を開けてまっています。不思議なもの
だなあと感心します。とくにリンゴがお気に召したらしい。
かけらをいつまでもオッパイを吸うように舐め続けていまし
た。

I heard an ordinary person in jp who is 100 days old is to be
provided a set of dishes with a small table. That ceremony is
called the first meal ceremony (O-KUIZOME). The set has
been sent by her(my gran daughter YU) gran-granma.
Precisely the 100th day was 30th dec.. we, however, delayed the
ceremony to today, the first day of the year.
About 2 o’clock, Today, while being in her high spirits, she
was served the first table for her meal. We was surprised to see
her opening her mouth when her mammy and dad brought
a small lump of food close to her mouth by means of chopsticks.
We all wondered when and how she learned to open her mouth
for something like food.
She seemed to like especially apple because she kept sucking the
lump of apple for a long while.
