オープン・マインドとは「開かれた心」と訳すのでしょうか?そ

れの対立語
は当然クローズド・マインドになります。この対立語から考え
たいと思います。排他的な心、退嬰的な心、独占欲などが類似語
として考えられます。なぜ排他的で、退嬰的で、独占的になりたい
のでしょうか？他者や新しいものを警戒し、奪われないようにする
ことはおそらく生物の自己防衛の本能的な衝動に根源があるのだ
と思います。その意味では、それ自体なんら否定的な意味が
ないはずです。
しかし、他者を受け入れない、新しいものに直面しない、奪
われないということは返って、自己自身を守ることもできま
せん。言い換えると、生存も困難です。それだけではありま
せん。他を排除することは他者を傷つけ、保守的であること
は他を攻撃し、独り占めすることは他から奪うことになりま
す。つまり社会に害をおよぼします。

The antonym of open mind is thought to be closed mind. Let’s
start thinking of this antonym. The synonym of closed mind
is thought to be exclusive mind, conservative mind or desire
for monopoly. Why do people want to be eclusive, conservative
or monopolistic? To be precautiou against the other and the
new or not to be deprived is originated perhaps from the
instinctive drive of self-defense of the life. In such a sense,
the closed mind itself should have no negative meanings.
That you don’t allow the other, that you don’t face the new or
that you refuse to be deprived of anything, however, doesn’t
mean that you manage to defense yourselves. In the other
word, t is difficult to survive, but also as the result, necessarily
that you would exclude the other should lead to abusing them,
that you would be conservative to assaulting them and that
you would monopolize to depriving them. That is, you should
offense the society.
