TCC Tranquility thimble
Awakening plum blossoms set against a mountainside where pristine water gently cascade down the slope...the artist Miya Sonomo has taken the breathtaking mountain scenery of southern Japan as her inspiration for this serene and harmonious thimble from Yamasan Porcelain.Mountains hold great symbolic meaning in Japan, and Yamasan takes both its name, which means "three mountains" and its hallmark from the mountains among which its factory is nestled, not far from Nagoya. Here, in one of japan's most prominent porcelain-making cebters, three generations of the Ito family have produced exemplary white porcelain, following ancient traditions of artistry and craftmanship. The pair of blue screens on the back of the thimble represent the pine wood screens used in Japanese mountain resorts to block commercial views. The screens are actually constructed in a seemingly disorganized way to better blend in with their sourroundings. The "Tranquility" thimble, with its peaceful scenery and twin gold bands, is a priceless addition to any collection and is available exclusively from the Thimble Collectors Club.
