This is the book which has been causing a great sensation now in Japan. This book has topped the English book sales ranking on Amazon.co.jp.


"Princess Masako: Prisoner of the Chrysanthemum Throne; the Tragic True Story of Japan's Crown Princess"

According to the explanation of this book, this was written by one of Australia's leading journalists and foreign correspondents, Mr.Hills. He interviewed with many people who are, and were, in close positions with Princess Masako. And according to some sources, he mentioned the possibility of Princess Masako's pregnancy through in vitro fertilization in this book.

There must be other subjects in the book which the Imperial Household Agency doesn't want us to talk or know.
So, I suppose, it protested against Mr. Hills about its contents.
But Mr. hills didn't seem to anwere it. This made another sensation, and a publisher quitted publishing a Japanese version of this book, I've heard.

Anyway I can't have any opinion about the dispute if I don't read it. I think there're many Japanese who think like me, so this book has topped the sales ranking. This is a very healthy idea.
I've ordered this book.

世間を騒がしている本が「プリンセス・マサコ」。この本はオーストラリアジャーナリスト、ヒル氏が執筆。雅子妃に近しい人たちにインタビューをして書かれているそうです。その中で妃殿下の体外受精の可能性についても触れられているとか。宮内庁にとっては「とんでも本」ということになるんでしょう。抗議書が送られ、それにともない日本での出版計画も立ち消えになったそうです。
これだけ話題になっても読まないことには何も言えない、そう思った人が多かったんでしょう。アマゾン洋書ランキングでは１位でした。私も買ってみました。
