過日、柿の木が万朶の花盛りだと書いた。散る花も結構な数で、隣家の敷地にまで落ちて迷惑をかけた。そんなことが数日つづいたあと、落花はぱたりと止んだ。ところが昨日あたりから、今度は生まれたばかりのような小さな柿の実がポトリポトリと落ちだした。実の直径は1cmほどである。
この赤ちゃん柿の落下は、じつは自然の理。というより、柿本来の理（らしい）。どうやら柿は、数多く生りすぎた実を「自主的に」落とすことによって、・・・つまりそれらに栄養をとられないようにして、他の実をより大きく成熟させるのである。
「落とす実」と「残す実」とをどのように選別しているのか、私には分からない。しかも、落とすのはもうこれで充分だという限界があるような気がする。成熟した果実は、人間の側からは「食用果実」としてのみ見ているが、柿の木の側からは成熟した実を地に落として繁殖する目的がある。したがって、残す実はより良いものでなければなるまい。栄養が充分いきわたり健康に発芽できる種（たね）が内部に育っていなければなるまい。・・・落ちる豆柿は、なんらかの（もしかすると厳密な）柿の生物的原理に依っているにちがいない。
ここで私は急いで付け加えなければならない。「人間」についてである。
人間は他の生物と大きく異なるてんは、本能が破壊された生物として生存してきた。その破壊が何億年前に起こり始め、なぜ破壊が人間という生物だけに起こったのかは全く不明だ。人間という生物に共通な営巣デザインが本能として組み込まれていた形跡を、いまのところ発見できていないのである。のみならず人間の「巣」（住居）のデザインは極めて多様であり、不思議なことにその巣は、柔らかな身体を包みこむのではなく敵対するかのように硬く、優しくない。人間以外のあらゆる生物は、種に固有な営巣デザイン本能が遺伝子に組み込まれていて、それは破壊されて来なかったし変化もしていない。これは重要な点である。
性本能もまた、人間の場合は破壊されている。人間の性行動は生殖本能から完全に逸脱してい、快楽追求行動として多様化している。宗教的な性的禁欲も生物学的な性本能から逸脱した異常行動であり、実は快楽追求行動の裏返しである。正常という概念は如何なる観点からも人間の性行動には当てはまらない。すなわち性が文化になっているのである。
さて、本能を破壊されたまま生きることを余儀なくした人間は、本能にかわるものとして「文明」をうみだすことに成功した。人間と他の生物とを分ける徹底的な違いがここに生じたのである。つまり人間の心身は同時に二つの世界を生きることになる。「生物的人間」と「社会的人間」の二つである。個人個人によって、あるいはどんな社会に生きているかによって、その二つの比重は異なってくるのだが、いずれにしろ、どちらか一方にのみ生きているということは有り得ない。これもまた人間にとって重要な点である。
上述の子柿の自然落下を、その現象のみを人間の在り様に適用しようとすると、それは「優生思想」となるであろう。優生思想（Eugenic ideology) は, 生物原理ではない。人間を有用と無用とに分けた傲慢な社会思想である。しかもその有用・無用は弁別者の恣意的な認識による。この自己中心的な認識は擬似科学によって補強される。あるいは宗教によって補強される。つまり幻想が社会を覆い尽くし、優生思想が制度化されると、そこから覚醒することは非常に難しい。幻想に心身を「侵される」というのも、本能を破壊された存在である人間特有の現象である。
人間は、「生物的人間」と「社会的人間」の二つを同時に生きており、その平衡感覚こそが未来に向けて存在するために最も大事であろう。平衡感覚の支点となるのは共存共生の高度な人間愛である。
・・・子柿の自然落下はそのことを私におしえる。
The other day, I wrote that the persimmon tree in
my small garden was in full bloom. There were quite
a number of flowers falling, and they even landed on
the neighbor's property, causing a nuisance. After a
few days of this, the flowers suddenly stopped
falling. However, from around yesterday, small
persimmons that looked like they had just been born
started falling out. The diameter of the fruit is about
1cm.
The falling of these baby persimmons is actually a
natural law. Rather, it seems to be the original
principle of persimmons. Apparently, persimmons
“voluntarily” drop their Excess fruit…in other words,
they prevent the fruit from being deprivied of
nutrients, and allow the remaining fruits to grow
larger and mature.
I don't know how they sort out the “fruit to be
dropped” and the “fruit to ripen.” Moreover, I feel
like there is a limit to the persimmon tree itself,
which is enough to drop. From the human
perspective, the mature fruit is seen only as an edible
fruit, but from the perspective of the persimmon
tree, the mature fruit is dropped to the ground for
the purpose of propagation. Therefore, the fruit that
remains must be of better quality. There must be
seeds growing inside that are fully nourished and
able to germinate healthily. ...The falling mame
persimmons must depend on some kind of (perhaps
exact) biological principle of persimmons.
I must hasten to add here. It's about “human
beings.” Humans are vastly different from other
creatures. We have survived as creatures whose
instincts have been destroyed. It’s unclear how many
Billionstel of years ago that destruction began, and
it’s also completely unclear why it happened only to
humans. So far, no evidence has been found that
humans have a common nest-building design built
into them as an instinct. Not only that, but the
designs of human "nests" (dwellings) are extremely
diverse, and strangely enough, these nests are not
gentle, as if they were hostile to our soft bodies
rather than enveloping them. All living creatures
other than humans have a species-specific nest
design instinct built into their genes, which has not
been destroyed or changed. This is an important
point.
The sexual instinct is also destroyed in humans.
Human sexual behavior has completely deviated
from the reproductive instinct ans has diversified
into pleasure-seeking behavior. Religious sexual
abstinence is also an abnormal behavior that
deviates from biological sexual instincts, and is
actually the oppsite of pleasure-seeking behavior.
The concept of normality does not apply to human
sexual behavior in any respect. In other words,
sexuality has become a culture.
Now, humans who were forced to live with their
instincts destroyed succeeded in creating
“civilization" as a substitute for their instincts. This is
where the fundamental difference that separates
humans from other living things arose. In other
words, the human mind and body live in two worlds
at the same time. There are two types: the “biological
human'' and the “social human''. The weight of the
two will differ depending on the individual and the
kind of society they live in, but in any case, it is
impossible to live only in one or the other. This is
also an important point for humans.
If we were to try to apply the above-mentioned
natural fall of the persimmon to the human condition
alone, it would become “eugenic thinking.'' Eugenic
ideology is not a biological principle. It is an arrogant
social ideology that divides humans into those who
are useful and those who are useless. Moreover, its
usefulness or uselessness depends on the arbitrary
perception of the discriminator. This self-centered
perception is reinforced by pseudoscience. Or
reinforced by religion. In other words, once society is
overwhelmed with illusions and eugenic ideology
becomes institutionalized, it is extremely difficult to
awaken from it. Having one's mind and body
“invaded'' by illusions is a phenomenon unique to
humans, whose instincts have been destroyed.
Human beings live as “biological humans'' and
“social humans'' at the same time, and a sense of
balance is probably the most important thing in order
to exist for the future. The fulcrum of a sense of
balance is a high level of human love for coexistence
and symbiosis.
...The natural fall of a persimmon teaches me this.
