I took up learning Russian by listening to two NHK radio programs.
So far, it is very interesting and I'm enjoying it a lot.
As of yesterday, I learned 16 Cyrillic (Russian) letters.

There are 33 letters in Cyrillic alphabet, and they are categorized into three types.

The first type is just like English (Latin) alphabet.(<--They are cute!)
The letters that look like English and are pronounced like English letters are:
A, K, M, O, T.
They are very familiar to me.
Whenever I see them, I have a sense of relief.

But, of course, it's not going to be that easy.
There are some Russian letters that look like English ones, but are pronounced differently, in a very confusing way.

For example, H just looks like English H, but it's pronounced like n as in Nick.
And P. P is pronounced like a trilled r .
Very confusing.

When I see P and H, I always want to pronounce them like English, and forget Russian pronunciation.
It's very hard for me to get rid of the habit of English pronunciation.

And the last type.
Unfortunately, quite a few Russian letters - actually 20- don't look English letters at all:
Ж, Д, Л, Щ, Я, Ю etc.
I don't know how to write them!!!

It is said that there is no particular stroke order in writing Cyrillic letters, so I can write them as freely as I like, but DIFFICULT!!!
I am grappling with them now.

By the way, does the last one (Ю) looks like a hangul character, doesn't it?

今のところ、苦しみながら楽しんでやってます。
