僕をはじめ海外研修生は、語学の授業のほかにドイツ文化を学習するプログラムにも参加した。いくつかある中で僕は「典型的なドイツとは?」のコースを選んだ。18日、僕たちはライプツィヒ大学の前で中央駅の南にあるアウグストゥスプラッツで街頭インタビューに挑戦した。何人かの現地の人に訊いてみた結果、意外な答えが返ってきた。自動車とサッカーの国というイメージだったドイツだが、中にはマイカーを持っていなかったり、応援しているサッカーチームがないという人が現地には少なからずいたということだった。
Besides the German language class, the students from other countries like me took German culture class, for example, the common image, classical music, the history, etc. I chose "the common image of Germany" course. On 18th our class had a street survey to research what's the typical image of Germany at Augustusplatz, in front of the main building of the University of Leipzig and north of the Main Station. We got some unique and surprising answers; some Germans we interviewed don't have any cars and not support any football teams.
