花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

16日、ご存知の方も多いと思うが、JR東日本山手線・京浜東北線が品川駅～田町駅間の線路付け替え工事のため、山手線が始発列車から16:15頃まで大崎駅～東京駅～上野駅間で、京浜東北線が終日品川駅～田町駅間で、それぞれ運休した。山手線が工事を理由に大規模な区間運休になることは、1987（昭和62）年のJR東日本発足以来初めてだという。

全線での運転再開までの間、山手線の内回り列車は通常も使われる「大崎」の行き先表示を、外回り列車はE235系電車に「上野」の行き先表示が備わっていないため、常に「山手線」の表示を掲げて運行した。ただし、池袋駅～鶯谷駅間の各駅の発車案内表示には「上野」の表示が見られた。

普段山手線の列車が折り返さない上野駅では、外回り列車が到着後に外回り線（東北本線の上り電車線）の3番線から鶯谷方にある引上線へ向かい、さらにそこから内回り線（同下り電車線）の2番線へと入線して折り返していた。そのため、列車が普段とは違う方向へと発車する、もしくは違う方向から入線するという非常に珍しい光景が見られた。

僕は外回り列車と引上線を出る列車が並走し、ほぼ同時に各ホームへと入線するという、普段の山手線ではあり得ない光景を写真とビデオに撮った。

On 16th, JR East Yamanote Line and Keihin-tohoku Line partially suspended their regular train operation because of the relocation of the track between Shinagawa Station and Tamachi Station. Yamanote Line train stopped between Osaki Station and Ueno Station from the morning to 4:15 PM, and Keihin-tohoku Line train did between Shinagawa Station and Tamachi Station all day. It was the first time to stop the partial regular operation of Yamanote Line train after the establishment of JR East in 1987.

During the relocation, the counterclockwise-bound trains showed "Osaki", but the clockwise-bound ones did "Yamanote Line" on the destination display because the displays on the carriages don't equip the destination for "Ueno". However, the departure board on the stations showed the destination for "Ueno".

At Ueno Station, the trains once went a sidetrack located toward Uguisudani to change the direction. People could see a rare scene that the trains came and went in the opposite direction.
