　忙しかったり、サボったりで、自分のブログどころか、皆様のブログにも訪問していませんでした。

　さて、久々の記事は、上海ディズニーランド。

　アジアでは、東京、香港についで３番目のディズニーランドとなるわけですが、なんだか香港と上海のバトルが起こりそうな予感・・・

　SHANGHAI, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- China's central government has officially approved the Shanghai Disneyland Project, the Shanghai municipal government announced Wednesday.

　　上海ディズニーランド建設が中国中央政府に公式に承認されたと、水曜、上海市政府が発表した。

　However, it will take another five years for the park's first phase of construction to be completed, according to a spokesman for the Pudong New District government.

　　しかし、Pudong 浦東新区政府によれば、建設の第一段階が完了するには５年かかるだろうという。

　An official involved in the project talks said the park's planned area was estimated at 7 square km. The project is expected to cost 25 billion yuan (3.66 billion U.S. dollars) .

　　このプロジェクトのある関係者は、テーマパークの敷地は、７平方キロメートルと推定されると述べた。建設費は250億元、（３６億6000万米ドル）と見積もっている。

　Officials with the foreign investment department in the district government said several big state-owned firms in Shanghai would form a joint venture with the Walt Disney Co. to invest in the project.

　 The government's information office said Wednesday that talks had started on details of the project.

　The California-based company had its theme park business affected by the economic downturn. It reported a 19 percent year-on-year fall in profits from its parks and resorts for the fiscal third quarter in July.

　 She said the Chinese economy was growing fast and the Chinese market, with its huge potential, would be big enough to sustain two Disneyland theme parks.

　Margaret Fong, commissioner for tourism with the (HKSAR) government, said the Hong Kong park attracted visitors from not only mainland but also southeast Asia and other places.

　Hong Kong business people have said the number of tourists from the mainland would fall as Disneyland visitors would be drawn to the Shanghai park, but the Hong Kong park, with some unique attractions, should remain an attraction.

　　香港の実業家らは、上海ディズニーランドへ客が流れ、香港ディズニーランドへの中国本土からの観光客は減るだろうと予想。しかし、香港ディズニーは、香港独特のアトラクションを充実し、その魅力を維持するべきだと述べた。

今回は、世界記憶遺産に『アンネの日記』が登録されたというニュース。

私が始めて『アンネの日記』を読んだのは、小学４年生の頃だったと思います。

私は、この日記で初めてナチスによるホロコーストを知ったのでした。

世界記憶遺産とは、人類が永遠に記憶しておくべき文書などを、人々の記憶に残しておくために登録されるのだそうです。 

今回登録された文書はアンネの日記のほかにいくつかあるようです。

記事を読んでみますと、私が知らなかったものもあります。

これらの文書が存在し、それが事実であることを知り、多くの人が世界平和を考えるきっかけやモチベーションになることを願います。

Anne Frank's diary added to UNESCO register

『アンネの日記』　世界記憶(記録)遺産に

PARIS - The Diary of Anne Frank is among 35 items considered to be of exceptional documentary heritage added to UNESCOs Memory of the World Register this year, the United Nations agency said Thursday.

『アンネの日記』は、ユネスコの世界遺産に登録された。特別な記憶遺産であるとして、今年は35文書が登録されたと国連が伝えた。

The latest additions bring the total number of entries on the register to 193. The list was started in 1997 by the Paris-based United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation to identify and preserve documentary heritage of world significance.

世界記憶遺産には、現在までに193文書が登録されている。この世界記憶遺産とは、世界的に重要な記録遺産の認知度向上と保存のために、1997年にパリに拠点を置く国連教育科学文化機関により創設されたものである。

The Diary of Anne Frank tells of the daily life of an adolescent Jewish girl in the Netherlands during World War II. It describes her life in hiding from the Nazis, before she and her family were betrayed and deported. She died in a concentration camp in 1945. Her diary is one of the "top 10 most read books worldwide," UNESCO said.

『アンネの日記』とは、第二次世界大戦中のユダヤ人の女の子の青年期の日常生活が書かれたものである。その日記には、ナチスから逃れるための隠れ家生活をしていた彼女の生活が語られており、その日記は、彼女とその家族が隠れ家を密告され、逮捕されるまで続いている。彼女は1945年に強制収容所で亡くなった。彼女の日記は、世界中で読まれている書籍のトップ10のうちの１冊だとユネスコは言う。

Among the other items added to the register this year are documents relating to the reforms and policies of King Chulalongkorn of Siam, now Thailand, between 1868 and 1910 as well as the royal archives of Madagascar. The documents, which cover the period 1824-1897, represent "a key element in the foundation of the country's identity," UNESCO said.

その他、今年登録された文書は、タイ近代化の父、チュラロンコン王の改革と政策に関する1868年から1897年の記録。また、マダガスカル共和国が、国としてのアイデンティティの基礎を築く重要な要素を記録している1824年から1897年の王室公文書などである。

Also chosen this year are photographs and films documenting the work of UNRWA, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, and the Registry of Slaves of the British Caribbean 1817-1834, drawn up to help control the illegal import of slaves.

また、UNRWA　(アンルワ/　国連パレスチナ難民救済事業機関)による、近年のドキュメント写真とフィルムと、英国領カリブ地域での違法奴隷貿易を統制するために作製された、1817年から1834年までの奴隷登録などである。

The various works are chosen by a committee of experts that meets every two years to preserve "documentary heritage that reflects the diversity of languages, peoples and cultures" and "guard against collective amnesia."

世界記憶遺産となる文書は、言語、民族、文化の多様性が考慮され、かつ、人類が後世に伝えるべき記録遺産が、２年ごとに専門家のよって委員会により選出される。

２〜３日前のニュースです。

中国の、人口抑制のための一人っ子政策（計画生育政策）には、黒亥子、小皇帝、中絶、男女数のアンバランスなどといった問題が中国国内外で議論されていますが、上海では、将来、高齢者を支える若者と高齢者の人口比率問題解決のため、第二子が奨励されることになりそうです。

上海のような都会では、２人以上の子を望むより、むしろ一人っ子志向の夫婦が多いような気がしますけど、どうなのでしょう。でも、１人以上の子どもが欲しかった夫婦には朗報ですね。

Officials in Shanghai are urging parents to have a second child, the first time in decades the government has pushed for more babies. A public information campaign has been launched to highlight exemptions to the country's one-child policy.

上海市の高官らは、第二子をもうけることを推進している。それはここ何十年もの間で初めて、政府が一人以上の子どもを奨励するものである。第二子奨励政策の情報キャンペンーンは始まっており、国の一人っ子政策免除を強調している。

Couples who were both only children, which includes most of the city's newly-weds, are allowed a second child. The move comes as China's most populous city becomes richer and older, with the number of retired residents soaring. "Shanghai's over-60 population already exceeds three million, or 21.6% of registered residents," said Zhang Meixin, a spokesman for the city's Municipal Population and Family Planning Commission.

He said the current average number of children born to a woman over her lifetime was less than one. "If all couples have children according to the policy, it would definitely help relieve pressure in the long term," he added.

Decades of a strictly enforced one-child policy has produced new strains across the population and prompted exceptions in some family categories. Rural parents are also allowed to have a second child, if the first-born is a girl.

Emotional and financial counselling will also be provided, officials said. By 2020, the country's most populous city is expected to have more than a third of residents aged 60 or above.

According to the US-based Center for Strategic and International Studies, by 2050 the country will have just 1.6 working-age adults to support each retired person, compared to 7.7 in 1975.

アメリカ戦略国際問題研究所によれば、中国は２０５０年までに退職者を支える生産年齢人口は、退職者一人あたり、１９７５年の７．７人から１．６人となる見通しだ。

The state-controlled newspaper China Daily quoted one salesman who said he was cheered by the new attitude.

"I'm not sure, but such policy really gives us one more option. If family finance permits, I want to have two kids with my wife in the future," said 25-year-old Xiao Wang, who works at a local company.

Others were less enthusiastic.

"I don't think we will have a second kid," said 26-year-old Xiao Chen, an office worker. "After all, it is stressful work raising a child."

Couples who ignore China's birth control policies usually pay fines and may face discrimination at work.

The many only children of China have earned the nickname of "little emperors" for the love and treats lavished upon them.

China's birth-control policies have been hugely controversial at home and abroad, as enforcement has involved forced abortions and other abuses.

It has also been blamed for a gender imbalance, as a traditional preference for boys has persuaded some parents to abort girl foetuses.

中国の計画生育政策に反した夫婦は罰金を支払い、職場では差別に直面しているのが現状である。

まず、ニュースは、ニュージーランド航空が、機内での避難案内ビデオにて、クルーが裸にボディーペイントで出演し、乗客の目をビデオ案内にひきつけるという話題。

飛行機に乗ったことがある方はご存知でしょうけれど、離陸後に流される避難案内ビデオは退屈なもので、おそらく真面目に見るかたはほとんどいらっしゃらないのではと思います。

そう思っているのは、ニュージーランド航空も同じらしく、こんな画期的なビデオを作ったそうです。

ＣＭの方は、このニュースの中で触れられているように、ＮＺ航空のキャンペーンＣＭでもボディーペイントのクルーが登場。

こちらは非難案内ビデオよりもっと面白い。何度も見てしまいました。　セリフにも思わず、プププ・・　笑っちゃいました。

ナレーターが、nothig to hide「何も隠すものはない。」というキャッチコピーに、裸になっている攻めが面白いし、出演者の演技や最後のご夫人のセリフも、ただ、｢裸の男がすき。｣と言っているのではなく、a man=Air New Zealand と取れて、二重に面白いですよね。

『24』のジャック・バゥアー役、キーファー・サザーランドについての続報です。

前回疑問になっていた、turn himself into policeの意味について、もう一度考えてみました。

前回の記事の段階では、「自首する。」とか「自分が犯した罪で警察のご厄介になることになった。」という解釈も考えましたが、今回の記事で、彼は「加害者ではない。」とコメントしていることから、彼は自首したのではなく、

「事実釈明のために警察に出向いた。」と解釈しました。

もし、彼が事件を認めているのなら、このturned himself into policeは「犯罪を告白するために警察へ出向いた。」＝「自首」と解釈してもいいと思います。

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Actor Kiefer Sutherland says he was "neither the instigator nor the wrongdoer" in an incident that saw him charged with assault for headbutting a fashion designer who bumped actress Brooke Shields at a swank New York party.

turned himself into policeとは、

ジャック・バゥアー役のキーファーが 、自分が犯してしまった罪が自分を警察へ向けさせる（警察のご厄介になる）ことになってしまったという意味なのか。

あるいは、自首したという意味なのか？

それとも他に意味があるのでしょうか？

Sutherland became irate when the designer bumped into Shields and got into an argument before headbutting him in the face, according to local media reports.

McCollough, co-founder of women's wear fashion label Proenza Schouler, reported the incident to police the next day and has been photographed with a cut on his nose.

Sutherland was not jailed and left the police station without commenting to reporters. He may appear in court within the next few weeks.

A representative for the actor did not return a call for comment.

The Manhattan District Attorney's office had no comment.

He served 48 days in jail after being arrested in 2007 for drunken driving in Los Angeles and is serving five years probation in connection with the incident. At the time of that arrest, Sutherland was on probation for a prior drunk driving violation.

Los Angeles officials have said they will decide if Sutherland violated his probation due to his arrest in New York.
