車椅子バスケ選手へのインタビュー本
HOOP DREAMS ON WHEELS ~Disabilities and the Competitive Wheelchair Athlete~という洋書を買いました。車輪におけるバスケリングの夢~障害と競技レベルの車椅子競技者~、直訳するとこんな感じ。HOOPというのはバスケリングのことで、HOOP DREAMSという映画もあったので著者はそれを意識したネーミングかもしれません。内容は今から読むのですが(笑)、目次をみると、人類学者のRonald J.Bergerさんがアメリカのバスケプレーヤー(マイクフログリーも頻繁に出てくる)やコーチにインタビューして、社会における障害や障害とスポーツ、バスケの関係、競技レベルのバスケ選手現役から引退した人までの生活暦を明らかにして、そこから、集団の叙述的な語りを通じて、障害と共に生きていくということ、競技スポーツと障害とは何であるのか?障害では何が大事であるのか?という間の板ばさみについて、社会学的に考察してあるらしい。プレーヤーのこれまでどのような生活を送ってきたのか?仕事は?日常生活は?他の趣味は?どんなことに価値をおいているの?といったプライベートなこともチームメンバーの理解とコーチングのために大切になる。アメリカのバスケ選手の考え方を知ることは、きっと参考になると思っているのです。ただ、英語力がねえ…全部読むには時間かかるなあ(苦笑)。著者には下記アドレスでコンタクトがとれるようです。興味のある方は直接どうぞ!Professor - Department ChairOffice Location: WT 409Phone Number: (262) 472-1407Email Address: bergerr@uww.eduRonald J.
