We took the cold air and rain
with us to Las Vegas, so friends and family in NY could enjoy warm sunny days while we were in Vegas.
So what happened to global warming??
Despite the bad weather, we did enjoy Las Vegas, the Sin city.
We found Caesars Palace, Venetian Resort and Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
John saw replicas of the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, Paris Opera House, Rome, and the Venetian Grand Canal; he thinks he doesn’t have to travel to Europe.
Jenny and I saw the “real things” four years ago.
Looking at replicas in Las Vegas is similar to looking at post card versions of them.
I think all John cares about is food.
He wants to go to China to having great food.
(Talking about Chinese food, DON’T GO TO “Noodles” at Bellagio Hotel; it was the worst Hong Kong Style noodle John had in his life time; to add insult to injuries, the roast port was not fresh)
Our hotel, Signature at MGM, was very quiet and elegant; it is not the typical Las Vegas hotel.
It is the number one rated hotel by TRIPADVISSOR.COM.
We had three complaints, though…
1) It was so far away from the Strip.
Even getting to MGM Grand is more than a 10 minutes walk.
You don’t want to stay at Tower 3 which is furthest away from MGM.
2) There is a mandatory resort fee of $20/day for internet access, Daily maid service, Valet parking and use of the fitness room which we didn’t use.
We think they should include the fee into the Hotel room charge. (at this rate, they will charge for the air inside the hotel!)
3) Internet connection was not reliable.
John had to spend hours talking to IT support people who don’t know much.
We saw “O” Cirque du Soleil and “Elton John: The Red Piano”.
We got good seating at both shows.
I purchased the Elton John tickets at Vegas.com
Buying tickets from TicketMaster.com is cheaper then any other sites if you can find the tickets you want.
However we didn’t have choices at the time, so we paid more than face value.
Anyway, we got free upgrades for our seats at the box office.
At the end, we got the seats well worth the price.
The show started wit 
“Benny and the Jets" and it kept going all night, playing such hits as "Rocketman," "Someone Saved My Life Last Night," "Candle in the wind," “The Bitch is back”, "Tiny Dancer," "Daniel" and closed with "Your Song."
At Elton John’s show, I had to check my camera at the check in gate and collect it after the show.
Next time I won’t be so honest.
I shouldn’t tell them I had a camera with me.
There was a service dog with an older lady.
She was not physically handicapped.
I wonder why she could have her dog in the casino/theater.
Duke and Duchess can be my service dogs.
I will have a panic attack without them.
We also loved “O” Cirque du Soleil.
We saw the 10:30pm show.
It was late, but the show was fabulous, John didn’t fall a sleep!!
There was no storyline! If there were, we just didn’t get it.
The synchronized diving acrobatics were great.
I wish they skip the silly Clown acts.
I guess this is a Circus show after all; they have to have Clown acts.
I played Texas Hold'em Poker.
The bottom line… you cannot win against the dealer.
The Las Vegas Rule is made to guarantee the house would win.
(You don’t get any payoff on the ANTE, the entrance fee to the game; if you win, you get to keep the ANTE plus payoff on the other 3 bets, viz., flop, turn, and river; however, when you lose, you lose the ANTE plus all the other bets!)
Next time, if such would occur, we will play Black Jack instead.
ラスベガスにニューヨークの寒風と雨を持って行ってきました。
ラスベガスには珍しい雨の日が三日間も続いたのですよ。
気温もかなり下がってニューヨークやシカゴの方が暖かかったようです。
ホテルはTripAdvisor.com(世界最大級の旅行クチコミサイト）で
人気ランクキング一位のシグネチャー アット MGM グランド。
ラスベガスの喧騒とは別世界の静かでシックなホテルでした。
バスルームが広くて部屋は良かったのですが難点が幾つか有りました。
三つのタワーが在って私達の部屋はタワー３。
MGMグランドまで動く歩道を使っても10分。
ストリップまでは悠に20分はかかります。
MGMグランドに一番近いタワー1に泊まるべきでした。
このホテルは一日に付きリゾート料20ドルチャージします。
これはホテルの宿泊費に含まれているべきだと思います。
そしてインターネットの接続が悪くて
毎日ジョンはITのサポートに苦情を入れなくてはいけなかったし、
このIT部のサポーター達は最悪。
兎も角シグネチャーからは
悪天候であってもMGMグランドまで渡り廊下で行けるので
雨の日をカジノやレストランで過ごせました。
ラスベガスの各ホテル内は色々趣向が凝られていますが
MGMグランドのカジノ内では可哀想なライオン達が飼われていました。
ラスベガスには似非のエッフェル塔、凱旋門、ベニスや
ローマのコロシアム等が有るので
ジョンは「ヨーロッパに行く必要が無い」と馬鹿なことを言っています。
4年前に長女のジェニーとヨーロッパ旅行に行って本物を体験して来た私には
ラスベガスの建物は安っぽく感じられます。
彼が中国旅行に行きたいのも
美味しいものを食べたいという理由だけと思います。
旅行中、食べ物にしか興味が無いようなジョンがカンカンに怒ったのは
べラージオホテル内の「ヌードル」という中華レストラン。
香港スタイルという揚げ麺はジョンの｢人生で一番不味い麺」でした。
古い油で揚げられた麺は短く千切れて載っていた焼き豚は腐敗の一歩手前。
メインである筈の麺(ヌードル)料理が最悪。
値段だけは一流でこんな不味い麺でも＄18。
絶対に避けたいお店です。
初めてのラスベガスで最も楽しみにしていたのはナイトショー。
ラスベガス旅行を決めた時点で直ぐにショーのチケットを購入していました。
でも一週間前に急に思い立っての旅行で好い席は値段が上がっていました。
CIRQUE DU SOLEILの”O" は英語が判らなくてもエンジョイできるアクロバット＋ダイビングのショーで楽しめました。舞台も演出も素晴らしかったです。
夜10時半のショーで『ジョンが居眠りをするかも・・・』という心配も杞憂に終わりました。
(因みにラスベガスではジョンが休憩・居眠り出来るようなベンチが有りませんでした。)
エルトン・ジョンの 『ザ・レッド・ピアノ』は
もう直ぐ62歳になるとは思えないエネルギッシュで
ヒットリストのオンパレードのショーで
彼のファンなら充分満足できるショーでした。
ラスベガスのショーらしくアダルト向けの演出で彼のジョークも成人向け。
観客は年配の方が多かったです。大体、彼のファン層が中年・老年ですものね。
サービス・ドックは劇場にも入れるのですね。
身体的には何処も不自由には見えない女性客がサービス・ドックと書かれたジャケットを着た犬を連れていました。
Duke達もサービス・ドックにすれば何処にでも連れて行けますね。
ラスベガスは空港でもスロットマシーンで遊べるようになっています。
でもゲート近くのスロットマシーンで遊ぶ人は少なかったです。
不景気な所為でしょうか？
ギャンブル運の無い私達はラスベガスの景気回復に貢献してきました。
カジノでのスロットマシーンで少々負け、ポーカーで大負けしました。
若し又カジノで遊ぶ機会があれば、次回はブラックジャックに挑戦します。
