Profile Pages for Authority Building
How to Use Profile Pages for Authority Building?I have already written about the possibilities of authority building. In essence, you have three options:wait until traffic 'organically' growsstay without authority foreverbuild some backlinksThe waiting option is utopian. Every keyword is already taken by huge companies that invest zillions of dollars into their authority, and a small fish has no chance to earn any significant amount of traffic by just waiting until a miracle happens. The Internet is a big business, and an individual can't compete with armies. Your organic traffic will only grow to a few hundred visitors per week if you are willing to wait for five to ten years and work ten hours per day. Even in this case, there is no guarantee. The option without authority is the option without traffic. It's that simple. Only very exotic keywords without value can bring you traffic, which will be rare and far between. So we landed on the third option. You need to build authority. You need backlinks. One of the best possibilities is using revenue-sharing websites where authority already exists. The main downside of this option are strict rules by the owners. Another problem is harsh economic conditions, which forced many revenue-sharing websites to shut down their operations. Bukisa, InfoBrarrel, and Zujava are just a few examples.Another possibility is the creation of a blog with already existing authority.Ameblo is one such example. Plaza Rakuten, by the way, is another one. That's why I write here. But writing blog posts and trying to index them is much much harder than working with revenue-sharing websites. Yes, you have an initial authority, but you are still a new guy in the neighborhood. You don't have traffic, and nobody guarantees you to achieve anything significant shortly. What if you can just create something short, easy, authoritative, and enjoy the power of the link?Yes, there are such possibilities. The so-called profile web pages offer you exactly that. These web pages allow you to write a short bio, add some contact details, and put a link to your website. Well, some of them. When you use profile pages for backlinks, there are a few rules to follow:The link must be clickable. When you click it, your website should open. If it's just written, it's of no use.Link must have an option to be indexed. If you open your profile page in a browser and press ctrl-U, a code for the page will appear. Search for your website and see if there is noindex anywhere near. Also, check if there is noindex anywhere else, maybe near robots.txt or a similar string. If you find noindex mark, your time should be spent somewhere else. The link should not be marked with a nofollow tag. Look for this mark the same way as for noindex. Nofollow can still be helpful at indexing and building your link profile, but it won't bring you any authority. There are some SEO masters (self-proclaimed) who believe some authority is still passed through the nofollow tag. Don't believe them. Use nofollow links if you want (Pinterest can be pretty useful despite nofollow links because it is very popular and can bring you good traffic) , but your efforts should focus on so-called dofollow (there is no such tag) links.I'll give you a few examples:8 Trackshttps://8tracks.com/mihgasper/Essentially, this is a website for the creation of music lists. It has a domain rating of 77. If this specific profile gets indexed, it will definitely bring some juice to the blog in the profile.Bookmeter https://bookmeter.com/users/1488380 Bookmeter is a lovely website where everybody can register and add the books he/she wants to read, already have read, is currently reading, comment on books other have read, or simply cruise around to find an interesting title for the next reading session. Proven Expert https://www.provenexpert.com/doc2/ Proven Expert is a great website where you can create a profile and promote your business. All kinds of businesses are already listed , there is a well-developed system for ratings, and, most importantly, a possibility to add aup to five links with anchor text into your profile. You can also add up to five social profile links which will be tagged as nofollow.Walk Scorehttps://www.walkscore.com/people/276494547790/walk-score-userThis is another non-related website where people who like to keep track of their walking score meet. It's also a chance to discover new places to visit and there's a bonus - for every added place you can add a backlink. I have no idea if this profile will ever be indexed, not to mention all the links, added to places, but if my plan works, all the effort will pay off. Walk Score has a huge authority of 90. This means that each link coming from this website ( indexed, of course) can easily exceed 20, which is way more than an ordinary blogger achieves in ten years.Behancehttps://www.behance.net/mihgasper/resumeBehance is a very authoritative website owned by Adobe, a software giant with Illustrator, PhotoShop, and other programs for professional designers. Everybody can create a free profile here but, again, indexation can be a problem. Anyway, I try to promote our work and website with everything I have. Including this very webpage.Coroflothttps://www.coroflot.com/MihGasper/profileCoroflot is another example of a so-called portfolio website where you can create a profile with a link to your website in your profile. I have had it for a pretty long time already, and it never got indexed. I don't know why , but I still hope.Google Profilehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16969023006142809097When you create a blog with a Google account, you have an option to enter a few websites as well. Unfortunately, you are limited to Audio Clips and Wishlist as anchor texts, but the authority is still there. The example is above.Hatena Bloghttps://profile.hatena.ne.jp/Artsandartists/Hatena is much more generous than Google. They offer you to enter three websites without anchor text (I used them all) and several more as social links where everything can be entered (I didn't use any, but I have seen some people who loaded all the spaces, and it worked for them). This is the end of the list for my profile web pages. I intend to expand it in the near future, so come back soon.
