音符My daughter belongs to the brass band club of her junior high school. She plays the trombone. And the other day, their 14th regular concert was hold at the school. I went there and was deeply moved to see her playing music, from classical music to pop music, with her fellow members.

Before she joined the club, she had never had any experience of playing instruments, except ones that she had been taught how to play at the music class during her elementary school days, such as a recorder and pianika. She hadn't known how to read musical scores.

On the contrary, other students, who joined the club, had already had experience of playing some instruments such as a piano, flute, trombone, etc. during their elementary days. And of course, they could read musical notes.

So it was very obvious that she would have a really hard time to keep up with others after her joining the club. And in fact, she's practiced playing the trombone almost everyday. I was amazed to see that she had such strong guts.

It was also lucky enough for her to have a lot of kind seniors. In some clubs, there're sometimes seniors who are very mean to juniors. But in her brass band club, almost all of the seniors were very kind and ernest, and they were always happy to help her.

And the advisory teacher was also gentle. When she had some problems on her mind about playing the trombone, he always gave her warm words to cheer her up.

I'm sure, thanks to them, she could overcome the problems and she could have a strong will to keep up with them.

My dear daughter,
From next month, you are the eighth grader and become a senior. So it's your turn this time to take care of your juniors who'll join your brass band club. I hope you can play your role as a senior.
