My son, the fifth grader in an elementary school, gets up late every morning. I think the reason must be the location of the school. Believe it or not, his school is in front of our apartment. So he's been in his futon till 7:35 however I've tried to get him up earlier. These days, I almost give up doing so.

But today, he made me surprise by his words. After coming back from school, he said to me, "Please wake me up 20 minutes earlier than usual from tomorrow!"

"Why?"

"I need to go to school earlier because I've become a member of a school annoucement group! I'm going to make an annoucement for the morning reading time toward all the students. I get exited!"

Wow. I think he is too shy to do such a thing in front of people. But his face shone with excitement when he said the words to me.

My beloved boy, I'm very pleased to see you're growing up day by day.

息子が放送委員会に入りました。かなりビックリです。だって人前で率先して何かするようなタイプじゃないと思ってましたから。「朝、読書の時間ですって放送するんだよ」と言うその顔は興奮で輝いてました。私の知らないところで毎日成長してるんだなあ、親冥利につきます。
