「We Can do Anything Together」
"Akane-san,get up! Let's play the piano! " Every weekend, I wake up to these words. It's great to wake up to this, because my mother and I love play the piano. Since April, we've been learning it together. I have wanted to play the piano since the third grade of Elementary School. But many things stopped me, and I began to think that it was an impossible dream;I gave it up. Yet one day,suddenly,my mother said to me, "O.K,get ready. Today we're off to Piano class!" Iwas so surprised. So many years had slipped by. But I was so happy. At last,I could do it! Of course, there was a problem. A big problem. We had no piano in my house. And the only way to learn how to do anything is to do that thing, over and over,again and again. So,when my birthday came around,I was so lukey, because we finally bought a piano. My mother said,"sorry for making you wait so long. From now we can do this together." I am so happy playing piano with my mother. And her eyes light up too, when she is playng and when she's watching me. But my mother helps me. She sees the mistakes I make and guides me through them. I feel so lucky now my piano dream is coming true. However,the other day I was watching a program on T.V. I watched a little girl from the Philipines, picking up empty cans for her family. I can't forget her face. The cans she collected were her family's livelihood. Her father died in an accident; her mother was too sick to work. Those cans she found brought food and water to her, her mother,and a little brother too. I couldn't imagine such a hard life. When she couldn't find cans, there was no food for anyone; their dinner was only water. Playing my piano the following day, I was sad and thoughtful. I have so much pleasure in my life and I need to share it. How can I do such a thing? And then I realised; I have always wanted to become a doctor. But now I want to live outside Japan, in the developing world. I want to share my good luck with everyone. I want to be a doctor, who helps people everyday. And I want to teach the piano too! So, now, when I practice my piano, I practice even harder,with a real dream in mind. Who ever we are, we have one gift. That gift is time. Each one of us has twenty four hours in every day. If we don't make good use of that time , we are wasting a precious gift. I'd like to teach this lesson to as many people as I can, through my job and through my piano. Every day brings new possibilities. I waited so long to start playing my piano, and then I saw people waiting to live. I can help them. I want the children of the world to have a light of hope in their eyes, to know that change for the better will come. This is my new dream; 'There are no borders in music.'
