1979 Vieux Chateau Certan

Rather light for a wine of its reputation, the 1979 Vieux-Chateau-Certan is medium ruby, with a moderately intense, cherryish, oaky bouquet, medium body, soft, light tannins, and an adequate finish. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 7/83.

1975 Vieux Chateau Certan

The best Vieux-Chateau-Certan of the seventies, the 1975 has excellent power and richness as well as complexity and balance. Medium to dark ruby, with a fragrant, ripe, rich, plummy, cedary, spicy bouquet, full body, big, concentrated flavors, and moderate tannin, the wine is just beginning to reach its apogee. Anticipated maturity: Now-2000. Last tasted, 12/88.

1979 L'Evangile

This is one of those beautiful, charming clarets that was delicious when released in 1983 and has remained so ever since. Although not the blockbuster style of the 1982, nor as concentrated as either that vintage or the 1983, it is an undeniably seductive, perfumed wine with a penetrating fragrance of black-raspberries, tea, and cedar. This smooth, velvety-textured, medium-bodied wine exhibits no signs of losing either its focus or its fruit. It is holding up far better than I would have anticipated. I still think it should be consumed unless it is in a magnum format. Last tasted, 7/93.

Fully mature, quite round, fruity, soft, elegant, and charming with L'Evangile's telltale violet, raspberry-like bouquet, this medium-bodied, velvety wine should be drunk up. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/81.

1977 Figeac

One of the few successes in this poor vintage, somehow Figeac has managed to produce a fruity, soft, and velvety wine, with good body and adequate length. Anticipated maturity: Now-probably in serious decline. Last tasted, 10/84.

Tasted 11 Times After Bottling With Ratings In The Low To Mid-90's

The finest Ausone of the seventies, and along with Lafite-Rothschild of Pauillac, one of the two outstandingly great wines of this vintage, the 1976 Ausone is indeed a profound wine. Surprisingly dark colored for the vintage, with a voluptuous, intense, complex bouquet of minerals, licorice, truffles, and ripe, spicy blackcurrant fruit, this full-bodied, powerful, large-scaled Ausone has remarkable size given the vintage. Amazingly, it is a bigger wine than more recent Ausone such as the 1978, 1979, 1985, and 1986. It is a winemaking triumph for this difficult vintage. Anticipated maturity: now-2010.

今日の中では79のレヴァンジルが、ピノ的なリキュール感と色っぽい香りがして良かったですね。他も良いが76・75・70は若過ぎでした。 コンディション良過ぎですね。
