花見友紀の「鉄道のある日常」

「RAIL WARS!」仕様の車両を描く。第3回目は特急「踊り子」185系A編成。

第4話にて登場。

塗装はデビュー当初と同じ白地（クリーム10号）に緑色（緑14号）の斜めストライプのもの。実車ではリニューアルと同時に塗装が白地にオレンジ色と緑色のものに変更されたが、A8・B7・C1編成がこの塗装に戻されている。

実車と同様のグリーン車2両を含む10両編成だが、実車との最大の違いであり、なんと言っても目を引くのは、4号車と5号車に連結されたグリーン車（サロ185）。外観は特急「北斗」に使用されているキハ183系気動車「N183」編成のキロ182 500番台に、内装は「スーパービュー踊り子」の251系の普通車に似たハイデッカー構造となっている。作中設定では、既存のサロ185を改造した車両となっている。とはいっても、国鉄・JRの車両は既存の車両の車体を新製した車体に載せ替えた車両も、既存車両の「改造」と扱う場合もある（485系「リゾートエクスプレスゆう」・「宴」・「華」など）ことから、「改造」といっても車体と内装は「新製」されたもので、これをサロ185の台車や床下機器類に取り付けたものではないかと見られる。

185系は特急列車としてだけでなく、普通列車としても使える車両として設計されたため、普通車の座席が同時期に製造されていた117系と同じ転換クロスシートを備えていたため、同じ国鉄特急といっても485系などよりも格段に見劣りしていた。このため乗客からの評判もあまりよくなかったという。1998（平成10）年のリニューアルで回転リクライニングシートに交換され、特急らしい内装になった。

251系の座席は普通車のものでも、185系のものよりも格段に座り心地がよく、グリーン車ではなく普通車の内装に似せても、185系デビュー当時の転換クロスシートと比較してみても間違いなく「高級」である。

The third time of copying rolling stocks from "RAIL WARS!" anime is 185 Series "Odoriko" express, which appeared on episode 4.

Its body colour is white and green stripe, the same as real ones (A1 - A8 set) when that debuted. The real one changed its colour to white, green, and orange one after the refurbishment, but A8, B7, and C1 sets revived the old colour.

Though it consists of 10 carriages including two Green Cars at no.4 and 5, the same as the real ones, the most notable different point of this set from the real ones is two Green Cars with high seatings coupled at 4th and 5th carriage, lonking like that of KiHa183 Series', KiRo182-500, and their interior resembling that of 251 Series' regular-class ones. In the anime, these two converted from the normal ones. However, though their body were newly-made, some Japan National Railway or JR carriages inheriting bogies and machinery from the old ones are regarded as converted or refurbished.

Because 185 Series was manufactured as rolling stocks for both limited express and local services, it installed the reversible backrest seatings like those of 117 Series. So the quarity of the seatings were worth than those of 485 Series' and got bad reputation from the passengers. When 185 Series were refurbished, the seatings changed to rotatable and reclining ones, similar to the other rolling stocks for limited express services.

the regular-class seatings of 251 Series' must be superior to those of 185 Series'; they look like those of Green Cars' compared with the latter.
