Yesterday
I lived bewildered,
In illusion.

昨日まで、
私は夢まぼろしの中をさまよっていた

But now I am awake,
Flawless and serene,
Beyond the world.

だが、私は今目覚めた
非の打ちどころなく、静かに
世界を越えて

From my light
The body and the world arise.
So all things are mine,
Or nothing is.

身体と世界は私の光から立ち現れる
すべては私のものであり何一つ私のものではない

Now I have given up
The body and the world,
I have a special gift.
I see the infinite Self.

身体と世界を手放した今、私は特別な贈り物を受け取る
私は無限の真我を見る

As a wave,
Seething and foaming,
Is only water
So all creation,
Streaming out of the Self,
Is only the Self.

逆巻き、泡立つ波がただの水でしかないように
真我から現れ出る森羅万象もすべて真我でしかない

Consider a piece of cloth.
It is only threads!

一枚の布きれをみてみなさい、
それはただの糸でしかない

So all creation,
When you look closely,
Is only the Self.

同じように、森羅万象も間近に見れば真我でしかない！

Like the sugar
In the juice of the sugar cane,
I am the sweetness
In everything I have made.

サトウキビの搾り知るの中の砂糖のように、
私は私が創造したすべての中にある甘味なのだ

When the Self is unknown
The world arises,
Not when it is known.

真我が知られないとき、世界は現れる
真我が知られれば、世界は現れない

But you mistake
The rope for the snake.
When you see the rope,
The snake vanishes.

だが、あなたはロープを蛇と見間違えたのだ
ロープとわかれば蛇は消え去る

My nature is light,
Nothing but light.
When the world arises
I alone am shining.

私の本性は光、光以外の何ものでもない
世界が現れるときただ私だけが輝く

When the world arises in me,It is just an illusion:
Water shimmering in the sun,
A vein of silver in mother-of-pearl,
A serpent in a strand of rope.

世界が私の中に現れるとき、それはただの幻にすぎない
水面にきらめく日の光や、真珠貝の銀の縞模様、
ロープを蛇と見間違える時のように

From me the world streams out
And in me it dissolves,
As a bracelet melts into gold,
A pot crumbles into clay,
A wave subsides into water.

世界は私から現れ出し、私の中へと溶け去る
溶かされた金の腕輪や砕けて土塊となった壺や静まり戻った波のように

I adore myself.
How wonderful I am!
I can never die.
The whole world may perish,
From Brahma to a blade of grass,
But I am still here.

私は私自身を讃える、なんと私は素晴らしいのだろう！
私は決して死なない
ブラフマー神から草の葉にいたるまで全世界が消え去ろうとも
私はここに在り続ける

Indeed how wonderful!
I adore myself.
For I have taken form
But I am still one.
Neither coming or going,
Yet I am still everywhere.

何と素晴らしい！私は私自身を讃える
姿形を得たにもかかわらず私は一なるものとしてとどまる
来ることもなく去る事もないしかもすべてに偏在している

How wonderful,
And how great my powers!

何と素晴らしいのだろう、なんと私の力は偉大なのだろう！

For I am without form,
Yet till the end of time
I uphold the universe.
Wonderful!

姿形はなくとも時のはてるまで私は宇宙を維持しつづける
何とすばらしい！

For nothing is mine,
Yet it is all mine,
Whatever is thought or spoken.

何一つ私のものはない、しかも、何であれ、思ったことや語られたことはすべて私のものなのだ

I am not the knower,
Nor the known,
Nor the knowing.

私は知るものではなく、知られるものでもなく、知ることでもない

These three are not real.
They only seem to be
When I am not known.
For I am flawless.

これら三つは実在しない、ただ本来の自己を知らないからそう思えるだけ
私は完全無欠なのだ

Two from one!
This is the root of suffering.

一から二が産まれる！これが苦しみの根源だ

Only perceive
That I am one without two,
Pure awareness, pure joy,
And all the world is false.
There is no other remedy!

私は二のない、一なるもの、純粋な気づき、純粋な歓喜だ
全世界は仮の姿でしかない、ただそれだけを悟りなさい
それ以外に救われる道はない！

Through ignorance
I once imagined I was bound.

無知故にかつて私は束縛されていると思い込んでいた

But I am pure awareness.
I live beyond all distinctions,
In unbroken meditation.

だが私は純粋な気づき、すべての区別を越えて永久の瞑想に生きる

Indeed, I am neither bound nor free.
An end to illusion!
It is all groundless.

私には束縛も解放もない
夢幻は消え失せた！
すべては根拠のないことだったのだ

For the whole of creation,
Though it rests in me,
Is without foundation.

森羅万象は私の内にありながら、何のよりどころももたない

The body is nothing.
The world is nothing.
When you understand this fully,
How can they be invented?
For the Self is pure awareness,
Nothing less.

身体は無、世界は無だ
これを完全に理解するとき、どうしてそれらを想像から生み出しつづけることができようか？
なぜなら真我は、純粋な気づきに他ならないのだから

The body is false, And so are its fears,
Heaven and hell, freedom and bondage.
It is all invention.
What can they matter to me?
I am awareness itself.

身体とその恐れ、天国と地獄、自由と束縛、すべてはただの作り話
気づきそのものである私に何の関わりがあるというのか？

I see only one. Many men,
One wilderness.
Then to what may I cling?

私は一なるものだけを見る、人混みのなかに、無人の地に
ならば、いったい何に私が執着するというのか？

I am not the body.
Nor is the body mine.
I am not separate.
I am awareness itself,
Bound only by my thirst for life.

私は身体ではなく、身体は私のものではない
私は分割されない気づきそのもの、
ただ生きることの渇望に縛りつけられていただけ

I am the infinite ocean.
When thoughts spring up,
The wind freshens, and like waves
A thousand worlds arise.

私は果てしない海
想念が沸き上がると、意識の風が幾千もの世界という波を起こす

But when the wind falls,
The trader sinks with his ship.
On the boundless ocean of my being
He founders,
And all the worlds with him.

だが風が止むと商人は船とともに、全世界を巻きぞえにして
私という存在の底知れぬ海の中に沈み行く

But O how wonderful!
I am the unbounded deep
In whom all living things
Naturally arise,
Rush against each other playfully,
And then subside.

だが、ああ、何と素晴らしい！
私は計り知れない深淵、
すべての生きとし生けるものは、
私の中にひとりでに現れ
互いに戯れあい、衝突しあい
そして消えゆく
