これは凄いですね！！超弩級ワインです。

良年のロマコンとラトゥールをブレンドした様なワインです。そんなアホな！！

とにかく、半端ではありませんよ。

濃いワインは世に沢山あれど、これだけエレガントな濃いワインはそうはありません。

最近濃いのが苦手な私でもスイスイ飲めます。

とにかく少量口に含むと、膨らむ膨らむ・・・凄いです。

噛みごたえがあると言うか、なかなか飲みこめない凄い膨らみです。

う～～～んこう言うワインが人間にも作れるのだ・・・・

あっけにとられて言葉が出ませんよ。

DRCのロマネ・サンヴィヴァン6万で買うなら、グランジ6万・・・いいじゃないと思います。

今まで数本グランジ飲んで来ましたが、これは最高、別格です。

実は98グランジ空港で買って機内で飲んだ経験があるのですが、あれから6年・・・全然違いますね。あの時は歯茎に染みいる濃いワインでした。

まあ今年最高、人生でも最高のワインの一本に出会いました。

今後5年に一本位のペースでこの98のグランジを飲んで行こうと思っています。

色は深く濃いガーネット

香りはクレーム・ド・カシス、チェリー・リキュール、濃いスパイス、森、森林、モカ、タバコ、赤身肉、木の身、クルミ、スミレ、軽い丁子、樹液、ハーブ、

味わいは、甘く角の取れた太いタンニン、余韻の美しい力強い酸、圧倒的なミネラル感、余韻の長い果実味、全てが高い次元でバランスしています。

クリーミーで非常に大きなスケール感のあるワインです。

欠点は何も見つかりません。

DRCと互角に飲める希少なワインだと思います。

ペンフォールドのフラッグシップワインにしてオーストラリアを代表する赤ワイン、それがグランジです。
グランジが世界のワインマーケットで一躍有名になったきっかけは、1995年米誌「ワインスぺクテーター」が1990年ヴィンテージを「ワイン・オブ・ザ・イヤー」に選出したこと。名だたるボルドーの五大シャトーや地元カリフォルニアの有名ワインを抑えて世界ナンバー１に認められたのです。

南オーストラリア州の複数の畑から最良のブドウの実を選別し、アメリカンオークの新樽100%で熟成させるグランジは、非常に濃厚でスケールの大きなワインです。飲み頃をむかえるまで、最低でも15～20年は必要とされています。

1988年は春はすずしく夏は暑く雨が少ないという過去20年間で最も理想的な気候の年でした。このためブドウの品質は極めて高く、香り高く果実味の凝縮した骨太のワインができました。
米評論家ロバート・パーカー氏が９９点！を付け、「あと50年はその生命を保つ」と評価したこともあり、発売と同時に売切れ・完売となりました。
一時期オークション市場で1本10万円前後で取引されていたのを見たことがあります。

1998 Penfolds Grange

A wine that flirts with perfection, and should rival the 1986 as one of the legendary Granges produced, the 1998 has one of the highest alcohol contents (nearly 15%) as well as one of the highest percentages of Shiraz in the blend (97%). Its stunning purple color is accompanied by exceptionally sweet aromas of blackberry liqueur intermixed with barbecue spices, an endearing, smoky earthiness, pepper, roasted meats, and coffee. Huge, massive, unctuously textured, and extraordinarily youthful, this impressive wine is a candidate for perfection. It should continue to evolve over the next three decades.

Grange, Penfolds' flagship wine, is, by many accounts, the most renowned and world-famous wine produced in Australia, and these six vintages from my cellar all acquitted themselves well. These wines are almost always Shiraz, but many vintages include less than 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and there are cross-appellations blends from vineyards in the Barossa and McLaren Vale.

The inky/purple color is followed by an extraordinarily intense nose of creme de cassis intermixed with blueberry and floral notes. As the wine sits in the glass, aromas of meat, plums, and cola also emerge. It is a seamless effort with sweet tannin, well-integrated acidity, sensational extract, and layer upon layer of blackberry and cassis fruit that stain the palate and fill the mouth. Its harmony, freshness, and remarkable length (the finish lasts nearly a minute) suggest an all-time classic. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030.
