Stop using keywords in your titles. Why? Because if you don’t know how to optimize a Web page without stuffing your title, then you don’t know how to optimize a Web page. Titles and URLs are options, not requirements, in search engine optimization. Learn to understand and fully appreciate the difference between being able to do something and needing to do something. If a given site targets users in a particular location, webmasters can provide Google with information that will help determine how that site appears in its country-specific search results, and also improve Google search results for geographic queries. The problem with directories: A good directory’s intent is to categorize the internet into different categories/subcategories, while providing links to good websites in those categories. Although there are legitimate directory websites, many were built solely for the purpose of building links back to webpages without consideration of link quality. This is the wrong way to build links. Nofollow does not mean that the search engine bot will not follow the link at all but, it only means that the search engine bot will not pass value / link juice which normally would have passed for the given link. Currently more than half of searches account for mobile devices.

You can see this yourself when you search Google. Search ‘eat yellow bananas’ and many of the results that come up won’t actually include those precise words! Whether you should go after long tail keywords, which are specific and consist of multiple words, or after head terms largely depends on your competition.

Start Blog Title With Keyword

As time goes on, technology will make it easier and easier to interpret the meaning behind a search query. This will lead to SEOs being able to generate content and offer advice that caters to a much more specific audience and satisfies their needs more completely. Inbound links can come from your own website (linking from one page to another) or other web properties you control. Dealing with a Google algorithm change like the page layout update can feel like falling into an abyss of constant web design changes over and over again. SEO specialists believe strongly in the value of backlinks, hyperlinks on third party sites that point back to your site. There is no doubt that Google values legitimate backlinks highly in calculating a website’s position. Google has stated that meta descriptions are NOT a ranking signal. So, how to start?

Most SEO consultants have said goodbye to spammy, shady optimization techniques because Google actively penalized you for it since 2011. Once you have your on-page SEO sorted out and optimized, you will need to build backlinks to your pages to rank. Having a different description meta tag for each page helps both users and Google, especially in searches where users may bring up multiple pages on your domain (e.g. searches using the site: operator). An SEO campaign can deliver all the traffic in the world, but if none of the visitors ever becomes a customer then the campaign has not succeeded. Sites that promote “thin,” low-value content run the risk of being penalized by Google; they also tend to have high bounce rates and low conversion rates.
