C55の動輪↑(2021年5月29日、品川区、東京都)
C5550が牽く列車(「74春闘勝利稚内支部」の文字がC55の炭水車に書かれています)↑(1974年3月28日、塩狩峠、北海道)
山手線の外側だけを歩いて山手線を一周してみました。五反田から目黒に向かって歩いていると、建物の入り口にC55の動輪が展示されていました。
こんな所にどうして?と思いました。
建物の中に(財)日本鉄道福祉事業協会がありました。国鉄動力車労働組合からの寄附によって設立された財団で、「働く者の歴史を現在(いま)に伝え、現在を働く者の生活を支える事業」を行っているそうです。

The Class C55 is a type of 4-6-2 steam locomotive built in Japan from 1935 to 1937. A total of 62 Class C55 locomotives were built and designed by Hideo Shima . Nine were supplied to the Taiwan Government Railway, where they became class CT250. Twenty one locomotives numbered C55 20-C55 40 were streamlined.
