![]() ![]() ![]() 1. On Labor Standard Act, there is a rule about nursing time: Female full-time workers who take care of children less than one year old can take thirty-minute nursing time twice a day in addition to usual intermission. Originally, this rule is on the assumption that Nursing time is for mothers to breast-feed babies. That's why Nursing time is only for mothers. Although childcare leave system is for both mothers and fathers. However, how many workplaces allow parents to bring their babies with? And I've learned that now workers can use Nursing time to take children to and from kindergarten. Besides, sometimes, father is raising his baby for various reasons, such as his wife is dead. Then we could say that it doesn't meet the true state of affairs to allow only mothers to take Nursing time. Today, I don't question about gender roles, employers unwilling to allow male workers to take childcare leave, fathers who loaf on housework and childcare while taking childcare leave. 2. I saw a poster of Help Wanted at a tavern nearby a train station. It appealed that payment by the hour is twenty-five percent over base pay after ten P.M. This is what the law already provides from the beginning. -Not all the employers and job-hunters are well informed about labor laws, though. Incidentally: If a laborer works overtime and their overtime work is from ten P.M until the next day of five A,M., the premium rate by the hour has to be fifty percent; Premium rate of overtime work is twenty-five percent, and premium rate of late-night work is twenty-five percent, so twenty-five plus twenty-five is fifty. -Is this rule publicity? Things are different if the overtime work hour in a month is longer than sixty hours, though. 3. On calculating social insurance premium, commutation allowance is also included in earnings. So even if the wage is the same amount, if the worker commutes longer distance and get higher transportation allowance, their social insurance premium is higher. This is often regarded as questionable. This Earnings is also used to calculate premium fee of Employee' pension. To simplify, the amount of Employees' old-age pension is in proportion to earnings-related insurance fee. Therefore, if other conditions such as wages and length of service are all equal, the higher travel allowance, the more pension they are getting in the future. -Isn't it odd?
