"Overstay" WHAT?
"Overstay" WHAT? How do you do? My name is Junichi Nito. I am a Japanese and an Immigration Lawyer. Today I will try to explain about "Overstay" in English. But I am sorry, my English is not so perfect."OVERSTAY/ OVER STAY" means those who have been staying in Japan, though his or her valid of Visa had already expired. Typically, those who came to Japan by "Temporary Visitor" Visa, have taken a job and continued to work for many years without legal procedure."OVERSTAY/ OVER STAY" is a criminal in Japan. When he or she is walking at such as a train station, a plain-clothes policemen sometimes ask him or her, and will arrest. Or, for instance, at Third Immigration Department ( 6F) of Tokyo Reginal Immigration Bureau, Officers ask the reason severely. After that, the forced procedure of sending back will begin ( or criminal procedure )But if he or she gets "Residental Special Permisson", he or she might stay in Japan legally. And he or she might get "marriage visa" etc, later. This process is not legal procedure, but with compassion or sympathy. So to get this Permission is really difficult. If a person uses this Procedure, I recommend to consult a specialist at once. The sooner, the better.
