(グッゲンハイム美術館内の英語解説文)Blue Mountain(Der blaue Berg)1908-09Oil on canvasSolomon R.Guggenheim Museum,New YorkSolomon R.Guggenheim Founding Collection,By gift 41.505Kandinsky spent his early childhood in Moscow.the city of his birth, and Odessa,Russia(present-day Ukraine),where his family instilled in him a love of art and music. He initially studied law and economics, but he left Russia at age thirty to study painting in Munich, then one of Europe's leading cultural centers.Kandinsky and his companion, artist Gabriele Munter, formed an international group of artists that scandalized Munich with exhibitions of radically new paintings between 1908 and 1912.With artist Franz Marc,Kandinsky published in 1912 Almanach Der Blaue Reiter(The Blue Rider Almanac),a compendium of images and articles emonstrating affinities across diverse disciplines and cultures. The loosely grouped artists of Der Blaue Reiter united around a common interest in the expressive potential of color, art's symbolic associationthers, and, for Kandinsky and a few others, spiritual values. As Kandinsky's style evolved, the subjects of his paintings changed from naturalistic scenes to visinary narratives. The horse-and-rider motif, seen here, symbolizes his crusade against conventional aesthetic values and his dream of creating a better, utopian future through the transformative powers of art.(写真撮影:ほしのきらり)カンディンスキーにぽち
