​​​​This indenture​​​​ ​​ made this 4th day of Jamnuary, in the year of Our Lord 
One Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty-five,

​between​ KLONDIKE BIG INCH LAND CO. INC.​, 
a body corporate duly registered for the purpose of  carrying business in the Yukon Territory, having its head office for the said Territory in the City of Whitehorse,
hereinafter called the " Grantor," ​
                                                                                   OF THE FIRST PART

​​​​​​AND ___(Fill in your name)___ hereinafter called the Grantee,"
                                                                                  OF THE SECOND PART. 
WITNESSETH THAT the Grantor for good and valuable consideration now paid by the Grantee to the Grantor (the receipt whereof is hereby it acknowledged) doth grant, bargain, sell, alien, enfeoff, release, remise, convey and confirm unto the Grantee, his heirs, and assigns forever
an estate in fee simple;  ALL　AND　SIGULAR that certain parcel or tract of land and premises situate, lying and being in the Yukon Territory more particularly known and described as follows:
TRACT NUMBERED C C 695511
comprising by asmeasurement one square inch or less as more particularly described in that certain subdivisin plan, prepared and acknowleged  the Grantor under date the 15th day of December, AD 1954 and deposited at the registered office of the Grantor  in the Yukon Territory, of the whole of Lot Two hundred  forty-three (243) in Group Two (2) in Yukon Territory as said lot is shows on a plan of survey of record in the Legal Survey and Aeroautical Charts Division of the Departmant of Mines and Tachnical Surveys at Ottawa under number 6718, containing by admeasurement Nineteen and eleven hundreds (1911) acres more or less ; together with all and singular  the easements, hereditamments and appurtenances to the same belonging or in any way appertaining with reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof and all the estate, right title, interest, claim, property and demand both at law and in equity of the said Grantor of, in, to or out of the same or any part thereof;  

この権利書の文章は表裏2面に渡り詳細なものだが、いくら虫メガネで調べても冒頭の
"This indenture"から始まり9行目の"THE SECOND PART"で終わる文章と、”WITNESSETH"
から始まる第二の文章だけからなる証書である。最初の文章は日本の権利証にもよくあるように
日付と契約者・甲乙の名前、住所などが記されているが、1955年の書類であるから古文書と
言うわけでもないのに年号が"the year of Our Lord(AD)"と仰々しい。
二番目の文章は"hereinafter", ”WITNESS THAT”, "doth(es)", "asmeadurement"など
私にはほとんど馴染みのない単語が頻出する。
箇条書きにすれば分かりやすいものを各項目をすべてセミコロン”；”で繋いで記して
超長文の文章からなっている。

一番目の文書だけ私の乏しい言語力で訳してみると次のようになる。
「この証書は1955年1月4日に作成され、Yukon準州のWhitehorseに本社を置く商業目的のため正当な手続きを経て設立された会社のKlondike Big Inch社ーこれ以後「譲与者」と呼び「甲」とするーと記名されたこれ以降「乙」と呼ぶ被譲与者との間で作成されたものである」。

証書のほぼ全体を占める二番目の文章はくどい上にもくどい法律的記述で、どこから
攻められても難攻不落の鉄壁な文章が続く。冒頭の”WITNESSETH THAT"は多分
「公証人（立会人）はTHAT 以下の条項を証明する」くらいだろうと想像する。

条項のこの超長文の最重要点は
（１）区画番号CC695511に1インチ平方の土地区分を甲から乙あるいはその相続人に譲渡する。
（２）譲与者・甲は1954年12月15日にOttawa政府鉱山技術開発部航空測量調査に基づき
”Yukon準州の地「243番地区第2グループ」に1911エーカーの土地を担保,分割案を作成し譲与者

のユーコンにある事務所に保管している。
複雑怪奇な一つの文章が2ページにわたり続くが、要は上のに点に絞られると思われる。
裏面に続く”；”で繋がれた文章はとても読む気が起こらないので省略するが、この証書の
持ち主はKLONDIKE 社が所有する1911エーカーのユーコン準州にある土地から1インチ平方の
土地を貰えるという訳だ。

証書の裏面最終部にまた変な表現がある。
Wherever the singular or masculine are used throughout this Indenture 
same shall be constrused as meaning the plural or the feminine or body corporate
or politic where the context or the parties hereto so require 

この証書において用いられている「個人」とか「男性」の語は「複数人」とか「女性」、「法人」、
「政党や然るべき背景にある政治家（？）」と読み変えることが出来る。

Klondike社の所有する土地は
1,911 acre (773平方Km)＝9,249,240平方ヤード＝1,331,890,560平方インチである。
この1911エーカー(773平方Km)という面積は東京23区（619平方Km)と川崎市（143平方Km）
の面積762平方Kmよりも少し広い土地だが、１インチ平方の権利書を一人一人に分けるとして
1３億人以上に分けることが出来るというわけだ。

今証書をA A 000001-ZZ 999999にナンバリングしたとすると
26X26X999999=ca.676,000,000（6億7600万）枚発行できるが、区画数にはまだ余裕がある。
東京23区と川崎市の面積（773平方Km）よりも大きいと言うと広いようにも思えるが
ユーコン準州の面積が482,443平方Kmで773/482,443=0.0016X100＝0.16％にしか過ぎない。
