Pastime Paradise

　先日よりだらだらと綴ってきた80年代の３大Rock Festivalもいよいよ（やっと）今回が最後。
　前回はLive Aidの英国アーティスト達を御紹介したが、、今回は米国・フィラデルフィアのJFKスタジアムに出演したアーティスト達のライヴをつらつらと挙げたい。
　開催された85年当時はウェンブリー出演者の方が圧倒的に豪華だなぁ…と思っていたのだが、すっかりおばはんになった今じっくり見ると、大ベテランから若手までミュージシャンの層が厚い上に幅も広い米国の方が大いに見ごたえがあった。特にミック・ジャガー（Mick Jagger）とティナ・ターナー（Tina Turner）の迫力ったら！まるで猛獣ショーのようだ…（＾＾；

　後にも先にもこのLive Aidを上回るロックフェスは二度とないと思う。15歳の夏の夜に見た、この夢のようなチャリティライブを私は決して（いや、おそらく）忘れないだろう。
嗚呼、我が青春の大変貴重な１ページよ。有難う、ボブ。有難う、80's ミュージシャン達。

　だがしかし…アフリカ、アジアなどでは今なお多くの難民がおり、問題解決に至る道はあまりにも長く険しい。Band Aidの“Do They Know It's Christmas?”でU2のBonoの歌うパートにあった歌詞「Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you」を思い出す。自分達だけがぬくぬくと恵まれた生活を送れていることを当たり前だと思っていやしないだろうか？彼等の苦しみ、悲しみに今も思いを馳せることがあるだろうか？Bonoの力強い歌声は、何かを振り絞るようなあの歌声は、困窮にあえぐ彼等の悲痛な叫びでもあろう。
