A Japanese-Canadian rock band has been named
an envoy to tell the world how Japan is recovering from last year's
earthquake and tsunami.
Japan's Foreign Ministry has appointed about 20 people,
including celebrities and disaster-area municipal employees,
as "kizuna ambassadors," named for the Japanese word
for the ties that bind people together.
One of them is the Sendai-based rock band Monkey
Majik, with 2 Japanese and 2 Canadian members.
The group has been taking part in various volunteer activities.
