今が生死

長崎生まれの日系英国人作家カズオ・イシグロ氏（62歳）がノーベル文学賞を受賞し
た。私はまだ彼の作品を読んでいないが、彼は小説とは感情を物語に載せて運ぶこと
だと述べている。戦争や紛争を記事にすることは出来ても、その時に起こる感情を言
葉で表現することは難しい。氏は感情を言葉にして人々に読んでもらおうとして小説
を書いてきたとのことである。この機会に是非彼の小説を読んでみたいと思う。

Mr. Kazuo Ishiguro (62 years old), a Japanese-British author born in
Nagasaki, received the Nobel Prize for literature. I have not read his work
yet, but he states that the novel is to carry emotions in stories. Although
it is possible to write war and conflict as an article, it is difficult to
express the emotions that occur at that time in words. He said that he wrote
a novel to empathize feelings and make people read it. I would definitely
like to read his novel on this occasion.
