美味しいワインと出会う旅

相変わらず何時も美味しいですね。

ワイン好きが最も愛する、自分の為に買うのが、このワインとモンローズ、ではないでしょうか・・・一級はホ～～と感心して飲んでいますが、実際イマイチな事が多く、良く分からんが高いから有難がっている・・・そんな人が多いし、今では気楽に開けられない価格になっています。

私も大好きなワインの一つです。

ランゴアと比較して飲むと非常に良く似ていますが、品位の差、洗練された味は一枚上だと思います。

パーカーさんは飲み頃は過ぎたと言っていますが、我々日本人の下にはこれ位からが飲み頃かと思います。

カシスと杉の香りが立って、実に旨味のあるボルドーです。

ブーケの強い97の特徴が良く出たボトルだと思いました。

シャトー・デュクリュ・ボーカイユー［1997］

『スーパー・セカンド』と呼ばれ第１級格付けに最も近いと言われるワインの一つ。
ワイン好きの間で、かなり定評のある造り手。

私は、ボルドーでワインの勉強をしていた際、このシャトーには何度か足を運び、このシャトーの方々と話をし、試飲をした中で、なぜか...

『職人的な造りをするシャトー』というイメージができました。

勿論、私の大好きな造り手の１つです。

オーナーのジャン＝ユジェンヌ・ボリー氏は、デュクリュ＝ボーカイユーの品質を大いに高め、そのため、１９６１年、１９６６年、１９７０年、１９７３年、１９７６年、１９７８年、１９８１年、１９８２年、１９８５年、１９９５年、１９９６年のヴィンテージは、メドックの第一級銘柄に匹敵する出来栄えであった。

そのワインへの情熱、高品質へのあくなき追求、驚くべき謙虚さと、ボルドーの大使として頻繁に海外を訪れる努力により、彼はこの地域で最も敬愛されるワイン関係者の一人となった。

デュクリュ＝ボーカイユーのワインの本質はエレガントさと調和、バランス、気品、格、そして非凡という要素である。

これはサン＝ジュリアンで最も逞しく、豊かで果実味に富むワインのひとつではなく、頑固なまでに時間をかけて熟成するワインである。

多くのデュクリュ＝ボーカイユーの最高のヴィンテージは、その果実味と、力の驚くべき調和を示すのに最低１０年はかかる。

A classy, complex bouquet of lead pencil, mineral, earth, cassis, and flowers jumps from the glass of this dark ruby/purple-colored 1997. Evolved and elegant, with noticeable tannin, it exhibits both breed and class as well as moderate weight, excellent depth, purity, and symmetry. Enjoy it now and over the next 10-12 years ... at the minimum.

The 1997 Ducru Beaucaillou is a potential sleeper of the vintage in the sense that it could merit an outstanding score, no small achievement for a second-growth in the 1997 vintage. The wine possesses Ducru's elegance allied with structure, power, and concentration. It should keep for 14-15 years. There is plenty of mineral-tinged black currant fruit intermixed with spicy new oak. Medium-bodied, elegant, ripe, and impeccably well-made, it will be fully mature between 2001-2014.

After the phenomenally successful and prodigious Ducrus of 1995 and 1996, it is easy to be unmoved by the performance of the 1997. While the 1997 is obviously below the quality of the previous two vintages, it is a well-made, elegant wine. In terms of aromatic profile, weight, and texture, it is reminiscent of the beautiful 1981, but riper and more developed. The 1997 exhibits a deep ruby color, as well as sweet, ripe black raspberry and blue berry-like fruit, medium body, dry tannin in the finish, and a firm, closed personality that is somewhat at odds with this vintage's style. I had the wine on three separate occasions with consistent notes, and I believe it is very good to excellent, but I do not see it evolving into an outstanding wine. Moreover, it will be one of the few 1997s that will warrant 2-3 years of cellaring when released. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2014.
